How often do you mow your lawn?

Got a bit of a telling off at my rental inspection because the garden is a little overgrown. It's not a jungle, but the lawn could definitely do with a mow. I don't have anywhere to keep a lawnmower. I sometimes have a go with a handheld strimmer but it's a bloody ridiculous task. I also work, am starting a full time masters, am a single parent etc so would rather pay somebody to do this if not too expensive.

There is a gardener who comes and does next door's garden every other week. Was going to ask them if they would mind mowing my lawn. It's very small, maybe 5x10 metres. Does anyone know roughly how much they would charge for this, considering they don't need to travel? Obviously I'll ask him but I wondered if anybody had a rough idea.

I want to ask him to come over regularly to keep it neat. But I have absolutely no idea how often I'll need it done (never had a garden before). I was thinking monthly from now until March. And then every other week between March and September. Is that about right? How often do you/ your DH or whatever cut yours?

We live In the SE, we have a contractor cut our front and back lawns every fortnight, from spring till end of October, not expensive, DH doesn’t have time and I am disabled for worth it for us.
