Amazon - prime and other stuff

Been a prime subscriber for a few months now but really only been using for prime video although thanks to a lovely mner I've also tapped into free magazines which I'm loving.

I need to order some stuff and due to ocd nonsense I NEED deliveries to be on specified days. My "basket" is ready to go,

Delivery options are

"Free prime delivery on X day"

Or

"Free Amazon day delivery on X day"

The days are the same day for both but which is more reliable? And what does "free Amazon day delivery" mean?

Also the "pantry" thing came up and that plain confuses me but I think it's something I COULD find useful.

AND there's that repeat ordering thingy? How does that work?

While I'm on a roll... Smile podcasts are something I want to "get into" and I'm thinking there's probably podcasts available on prime?

I've also got some birthday money I've not spent yet which I'm thinking of buying an Amazon dot speaker? I need a new speaker old one isn't holding charge as well and occasionally losing volume (just a wee cheap Argos one I got couple years ago)

So...talk to me about Amazon/prime etc?

Can't help you with deliveries but wanted to say thank you for the tip about magazines - I didn't know about that!
I've only just downloaded Prime video onto my phone which seems pretty good.

We're rural. If it says Sunday, it arrives Sunday!

Yup it will be delivered on Sunday. The items with a blue 'prime tick' are guaranteed.

I been using them for years and only had one problem with late delivery. In that particular case they refunded the whole amount (around£40), and let me keep the item.

I placed an order at 10.20pm yesterday (Sunday) for an item due to be delivered tomorrow (Tuesday). It’s actually been delivered this morning, 13 hours after the order was placed.

All deliveries for the West of Scotland come from that area. If a Sunday delivery is offered then itll arrive on a Sunday.

Not all Prime items have next day delivery but in my experience they always arrive the say they're supposed to.

There are different ways to buy on Amazon and I often get caught out!

Some times are FBA (fulfilled by Amazon) which means they keep the stock in their warehouse and send the order from there. Others are labelled Prime but are sent out from the supplier directly by Royal Mail. I work somewhere that sells on Amazon and we have to make sure orders are put in the post bag by 5pm for Amazon orders. However, they’re then going into the Royal Mail system so delays might happen from there.

In my experience things that are fulfilled by Amazon themselves are much more reliable, sometimes even arriving BEFORE they state they will (which could also be a problem for you) although there seems to be fewer things specified as available for same day delivery these days. And many Prime items aren’t next day, whereas it always used to be the case.

To be honest their service is getting worse.

I’m currently on month 5 of free Prime - every time they fuck up I get another month.

blahblahblahblahhh · 09/09/2019 15:05

I've never had any issues with my prime deliveries - on a number of occasions I've even had same day delivery!

Graphista · 09/09/2019 16:24

"I placed an order at 10.20pm yesterday (Sunday) for an item due to be delivered tomorrow (Tuesday). It’s actually been delivered this morning, 13 hours after the order was placed." See that might be a bonus for many, for me it would be a problem!

"All deliveries for the West of Scotland come from that area" sorry but I already know that's not true, because Amazon tell you where deliveries are dispatched from AND where delivery drivers start from.

Ok most of my deliveries come from that area and theres never been a problem with delivery. Cambuslang seems to be the hub most of my things come from. If you choose next day delivery itll come on the selected day - even if it's a Sunday. Their drivers work till 9pm on a Sunday.

If you have a place for them to leave items in my experience, they're brilliant at leaving it where you ask

If you really need things delivered on a specific day Prime is an excellent option
