Ok just made beautiful chicken pie, a first.

However what would I freeze it in? Foil tin!! Little pie dish, do I cook the whole thing with pastry? Then freeze or leave pasrty un cooked on top and have pasrty exposed in freezer.

Ok my MIL makes pies (well did ill-health is now catching up on her)

She makes them in old saucers, lines the plate, puts in the cooked filling (usually mince or apple) and then a top. She freezers them straight away in freezer bags.

We then cook it - no ill effects in the 18 years I've been having them.

What did you make it in? Can you freeze it in that? I make pies wrap the whole thing, including pie plate, in tinfoil and then put in a freezer bag and freeze. You can freeze before or after cooking, unless any item was frozen previously.

I freeze the filing and pastry in separate bags. I then defrost, assemble and cook.
Same with lasagne, meat sauce and white sauce in bags.
I have limited kitchen equipment and space

It's in large lasagne type dish.

I think freezing fulling and raw pastry is excellent idea, I don't have much freezer space a d ill buy small pie pots to assemble them in.

So filling is cooked. Thank you!

Team lucky you to have had delicious pies! But a saucer is quite shallow?

I make them in Pyrex dishes with plastic lids but put the pastry top on about 2cm below the rim and fork it up the sides to seal. Trim edges to below the rim and put the paste lid on.

I pull out of the freezer, egg wash and cook x
