Is this chicken pox?

On Tuesday DD noticed she had a rash. DD didn’t really feel unwell until Wednesday when a sore throat started. Initially I thought DD had chicken pox but then yesterday decided it wasn’t as no blisters were forming on the rash, also she’s had it before so thought it’s unlikely.

Today DD felt well and her rash didn’t seem any worse so I sent her to school.
I’ve just checked her rash again and am wondering again if it is chicken pox.

I’ve attached a picture. Should I take DD to the out of hours service to ask them to double check?

It's possible to get chicken pox twice if the first infection was mild, but it's unlikely now as there are no blisters patient.info/skin-conditions/viral-rashes/chickenpox-in-children

It's difficult to tell from a photo but this looks more like a rash which can develop during or after a viral infection (common cold) www.dermnetnz.org/topics/pityriasis-rosea/

Your DD can go to school with pityriasis rosea

If you're unsure, or DD becomes unwell then call 111 or see your GP tomorrow

I was gonna say pityriasis too. Avoid baths and hot water, mild quick showers and pat dry only! I get it at least once a year.

I wish I had seen these replies sooner!

We just came back from the GP who said possible chicken pox but we couldn’t be sure for a couple more days. However reading about pityriasis rosea it sounds like that, she has a patch in her thigh which we didn’t point out to the dr which could very well be a herald patch.

Will keep DD off tomorrow as he said that if it’s chicken pox it will be obvious by Sunday.
