An empty coffee mug, a remote control and my feet.

GoneWishing · 05/09/2019 15:50

Oh dear. Two laptops, a pile of papers, a few coasters, a mug, two remotes, pack of painkillers, tissues and probably some other ungodly mess I can't see from this vantage point. DH is working from home by it.

GoneWishing · 05/09/2019 15:51

I realise that doesn't really answer your question for nice tips, sorry! Blush

The remote, a book, a box of tissues, and an apple core Grin

Have a look on pinterest for ideas.

A wooden bowl with decorated balls in & Nice coasters.

I think coffee tables should just be for coasters, they shouldn’t be cluttered with stuff

TowerRingInferno · 05/09/2019 15:57

This month’s magazines, remote, mug

Probably not helpful in terms of creating a lovely looking coffee table!

Blueberryblueberry · 05/09/2019 15:59

A plant, a couple of coasters (that never get used) various Lego creations and toy cars.... I don't imagine this is what you had in mind though?! Grin

WhoKnewBeefStew · 05/09/2019 16:24

An elephant coaster holding thing
Remote control can of Diet Coke

LittleGinBigGin · 05/09/2019 17:08

Lego..an empty coffee cup..and a magazine Grin

I normally just put a nice vase and some flowers on it when I want to try and be a bit posh

Dieu · 05/09/2019 17:10

Next have some lovely coffee table things, in their home department.

WhenEnoughIsEnough · 05/09/2019 17:10

I have a large candle in the middle with the coasters either side of it and 2 small crackle glass bowl candle holders

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 05/09/2019 17:13

A nice deep layer of gently mulching paper, box of tissues, probably some dog treats, pet hair and crumbs, assorted. Grin

I do long for a naice coffee table with just one or two naice coffee table books on, and a nearly stacked until required set of coasters

WinnerWinnerChickenDinner0 · 05/09/2019 17:14

I dream of the day that my coffee table is clear of Lego and clutter

But I love trays on coffee tables as a way of grouping items. Loads of great examples on Pinterest

Kids draughts/chess set here...it gets used almost daily but I always tidy it up once they are finished so it sits properly. I have my posh lamps on side tables, and one wee table has a glass ornament arrangement that I bought at an Ideal Home Show(pre kids!)...its a flat mirrored dish with small 3 glass bowls sitting on it(all clustered in the middle), with a big artsy tangle of electric blue wire inside each bowl. It does look very fancy!

Strawberrycreamsundae · 05/09/2019 17:25

No coffee table here, got so fed up with DH using it as a footstool and dumping ground for crap (literally when I found pieces of sheep shit on it from his filthy shoes, bleugh ) It went on a bonfire the same day!

Sundaychiller · 06/09/2019 08:27

Some lovely ideas here thanks and some errr not so lovely :)

I have ordered some glass coasters with different colours inlaid in them and considering the tray idea so thanks. Will check out Next too

It's a coffee table but it's at the side of the settee rather than in the middle of the room. On it we have a school photo of our dc, a random piece of paper, a cold cup of tea that I'm going to move in a minute and a big pile of books. If we tried putting a vase of flowers on there or an ornament or something it'd be broken within hours days.

When I lived at home my mum refused to have a coffee table in the end because it always became a dumping ground filled with books, piles of letters and magazines and Lord knows what else.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 06/09/2019 08:54

Several remotes and a stack of coasters.

Capodimonte · 06/09/2019 09:05

I don't keep anything on my coffee table. I have coasters that I bring out to put on it if friends come for coffee though so it does get used.

Lowlandlucky · 06/09/2019 09:06

Decrotive present box to hide DHs rubbish, pen and pencil, remote control,11 motorcycle magazines, lottery ticket, 2 glasses cases, 3 coasters, 1 mug, a cushion and my feet. Your table isnt there for instagram it is there for using. P.S a empty tunnocks wrapper(DH)

Bluntness100 · 06/09/2019 09:07

Some orchids on the top, and on the later underneath a large ornate dish of sweets, and books.

fussychica · 06/09/2019 09:13

Handmade glass coasters from Spain, candles, a pretty glass bowl which I try not to stick crap in and a holder for incense sticks, oh and dust - housework required!

WitsEnding · 06/09/2019 09:18

I have a nest of 3 - the active one contains: Journal, pen, magazine, TV guide, coaster from holiday, TV remote, knitting pattern. And a penny - don't know where that came from.
The others hold a) large potted palm b) cutlery canteen, pot plant, small toys belonging to grandchild.

Under the coffee table is more useful space :)

Nottobesoldseparately · 06/09/2019 09:34

Erm, our TV is on our lovely coffee table.

We got a dog and he likes to lie in the middle of the floor and the tv cabinet was on its last legs so it made sense!

But prior to that, it had candles and coasters, with baskets underneath to hide all the crap!

BeepBeeeep · 06/09/2019 10:44

A table runner, a wooden tissue box, a wood dish with wood balls in it and 4 wood coasters. The table is wood.

Er, I like wood 🤔
