This is the third one of these I've seen in my living room, what is it?! It looks like a massive tic but is about a centimetre long?!

I think it's a weevil of some sort.

showmethegin · 04/09/2019 20:56

A weevil?

OnTheBorderline · 04/09/2019 20:57

It's a weevil how cute!

showmethegin · 04/09/2019 21:00

I've just googled it and I think you're all spot on! Is there anything I need to do?! I've checked the cupboards (google said attracted to grains etc) but can't seem to see anything?

It looks like a vine weevil which is a garden pest rather than the weevils that you find in flour etc. I often find them in the house - I assume they are lost!

OnTheBorderline · 04/09/2019 21:05

May I adopt him? 😬 I love weevils

showmethegin · 04/09/2019 21:07

@OnTheBorderline gladly! I won't kill him then if the cat doesn't get to him first! We've had every door open the last few days; maybe that's it? Would they attach themselves to the cat and he's bringing them in?

OnTheBorderline · 04/09/2019 21:14

Maybe he just likes your house!

RocketRacoonsFurryBalls · 04/09/2019 21:21

Cute!

So, today I have learned that a weevil is a make of beetle.

TitsInAbsentia · 04/09/2019 21:24

VW Weevil?

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 04/09/2019 21:26

There'll be another, larger one nearby.

The one in the photograph is the lesser of two weevils.

I'm here all week... Grin

moonpiggle · 04/09/2019 21:29

NanTheWiser · 04/09/2019 22:18

longwayoff · 05/09/2019 07:20

If you have any house plants, change the compost (and bin it, don't reuse it) as they may have laid eggs in it. A vine weevil grub is not attractive and will eat the roots of your plants.
