Hi all

I am due to be a step nan anytime now!
I'm so excited. We've bought so much for the baby but I want to do a basket type gift for the baby's mum.

Can I please ask for any ideas that you have for her.

Thanks in advance! Xx

I've bought some soap and glory stuff as she's a lot younger than me so I think she will like that.

Didn't want to buy perfume as it's so personal so I will get her a voucher.

Just struggling to know what to her her.

She's 20.

I heavily depended on travel cups. Less chance of spilling tea and stay hot longer when you (inevitably) forget about them
And a sports bottle with a straw

SleepingStandingUp · 04/09/2019 21:22

A cup with a lid so her coffee stays warm.
Something nice for in the bath and instructions to your step son to send her for one once she's able.
If she's not BF, a small bottle of bubbles? I'm despersy craving Prosecco, but am 22 weeks pregnant lol

AmIThough · 04/09/2019 21:24

Get her a nice button shirt nightdress if she's planning to BF, or just some cosy pyjamas if not.

Prosecco! A voucher for a meal out (maybe you could babysit) chocolate, face masks.

All I really wanted was space the first 2 weeks I was sick to death of visitors.

beatriceprior · 04/09/2019 21:40

Thank you these are real good ideas

Slippers/slipper socks, chocolates, biscuits, (loved snack foods for my night feeds!) lucazade? Some lavender drops for the bath for afterwards (was a god send when I needed stitches and helped soothe me) hair bobbles/dry shampoo! Maybe a voucher for a massage? A voucher for a night's baby sitting (obviously home made for yourself to offer your services if you wanted to!) a sports bottle for squash, a thermal flask (tea often goes cold!) sounds really silly but breast pads (my step mum got me some as I didn't think about it and it was a god send! She also got me some foot packs for when I was feeding!)

newmummalion · 04/09/2019 22:49

@AmIThough Was also going to suggest pjs or nightshirt with buttons Smile

Hamper with crackers, jams, nice snacks. Then afterwards an offer to pop around with one pot type meals. With the popping around being 20-30 minutes and including making a hot drink. Being helpful early on can be really appreciated.

TheRebelAlliance · 04/09/2019 23:38

I always take sanitary towels to new mums if visiting in hospital.

fiorentina · 05/09/2019 07:26

My friend bought me some nice nail varnish and a lip gloss which I loved.
Work sent cakes and brownies which was also much appreciated!

WishingILivedOnAnIsland · 05/09/2019 07:35

The best present I got was from my DH's childfree aunt- she gave us nothing for our first baby (and said frankly 'I'm not a fan of babies') but gave me a beautiful bottle of perfume. It meant so much to me. I felt exhausted, disgusting, lost to motherhood and invisible to even close family. Having a lovely bottle of perfume made me feel seen and human again.

Fantababy · 05/09/2019 09:41

Netflix if she doesn't have it. A lot of time spent sitting up feeding and watching TV. Maybe a cosy sweatshirt or cardigan that she can just throw on during the night. Or slippers.
If she's breastfeeding maybe some breastfeeding specific clothes. I bought a breastfeeding hoodie and a couple of b-shirts but these things are quite expensive so would have made a lovely gift.

Fantababy · 05/09/2019 09:42

Also, my friend was given a nice undereye concealer when she had her wee ones.

Allyo19 · 05/09/2019 15:09

A necklace with baby's birthstone in it
