I work for a multinational, I am based in the UK and my manager in the US. I am the only person doing my role in the UK.
I have been promoted and with this comes a salary increase (usual increase for promotion is 10%).
My new salary is still TBD but given my current salary, I know that this salary increase with push me into the higher rate tax bracket and I will lose child benefit.
I would like to enjoy the financial benefits of being promoted and am in the unique position that I could (within reason) request an increase that is still a good given that I'll be +- £150 per month down because of no more child benefit, and the additional tax.
How do I go about proposing a salary to my manager?
