Budgeting for a holiday - two adults, self catering in France, happy to laze most days.

I budget £100 a day and always have money left over. There are normally DH and I and teen DS.

Similar to you, some days we would do very little, on others we may go sightseeing or out for dinner and it seems to even itself out pretty well - we've a big European trip planned next year and I fear it will be a lot more

A meal out for 2 adults and 4 kids last week was £150-180 with drinks. Supermarket shops were quite expensive, around 20% more than UK (but we did get more luxury items than at home). Activities were about half the price of at home.
