How to not get a big tummy

I was at my class this morning and I'm about 20+ younger than most there and I noticed that most of these woman in their 60/70 have the apple shaped tummy. I can see me heading this way, any advice on how to stop it happening? I'm not overweight at all, BMI 21.7. It seems to me mainly bloating but I'm definitely thicker set than I have been in the past!

Don't eat carbs, and exercise?
I think very few people retain the lithe shape they were when young but I'm 51 and the same weight I was at 21 ...but have to eat a lot less to stay that way :( I don't do gym or anything but have an active job and a puppy which helps!
Realistically you do 'thicken' with hormone changes, I'm slim but not the shape I was sadly!

Cut down on booze and sugar. Eat more fresh veg and fruit.

Your waist thickens when you lose muscle tone. The best way to stop that is to train your core through exercise and ensure you don’t overeat (even an extra 100 calories a week than you need can result in significant weight gain over the period of a few years).

Just googled and TRX look like core strengthening exercises.

I don't do much exercise really so this and cutting down on sugar might be the way to go!
