I have a flour EMERGENCY!

Making empire biscuits and I thought I had plain flour but it's self raising? I've already started making them, is there anything I can do to the flour to make it, er, not self raising?

There isn't, the raising agents are very fine and evenly distributed throughout the flour.

I wouldn’t worry too much, you’re only using a small amount of flour for biscuits.

If you leave the dough for a little while after mixing the raising agents might deactivate a bit.

Plenty of biscuit recipes use SR flour. You may even be inventing a new recipe!

I made cookies last week and had to use self-raising instead of plain. I only noticed after I put in baking powder. Everyone thought they were bought from a shop, I wouldn’t worry too much.

The recipe called for 325g of flour and could probably have done with a bit more. They're all misshapen and have spread too much but I've just nearly burnt my mouth off trying one and they are bloody lovely! They will look shit when they're put together but I care not a jot!

Bread would have been a different matter, but glad the biscuits are ok.
