Back to school

And all over my FB feed are pictures of people taking their kids to school, or their kids in school uniform outside the school gate, or standing by the door in their 'big' school uniform.

I'm torn between feeling guilty that I sent DC off with Dad (as was the usual routine last term), without taking a photo, and between feeling annoyed that it's suddenly become 'a thing' to do. When I was growing up nobody gave a toss if it was the first day back, or thought of taking photos.

IIRC we did first day at a school photos, but not every September at the start of term.
Not sure why it's SM worthy if it's just going into another year.

Plus you can get an overpriced school photo in the next few weeks.

My parents did photos on the first day of every school year 50 years ago. We do it too (but don't post on SM). It's fun to see how they have changed each year.

Oh yes, looking forward to the overpriced photo which will no doubt be on a day I forget to send DC in cleanest unform.

I'm ignoring the photos. My dd doesn't like it and I respect her wishes. Happy fir people who do if it makes them happy but no shits really given. Dd loves her school.

DS goes back tomorrow into yr11. It would be his last "back to school" photo except that DH and I will both have left for work.

We must steel ourselves to cope Grin

I've taken some, but only as it was DC2 first day in reception.

To be fair she did a whole year last year in the preschool at the school so no massive change (early years use a different entrance and playground and most of her friends are in her class). Meber sent the pics to anyone other than a few family and friends (WhatsApp not FB!)

My Mum always took photos of me. I’ve taken one on their first day of school from the beginning, rather lovely to look back and see how much they have grown. I take one on the last day of the school year too.

I do first day photos because I remember my mum taking them of me! But I don’t always post on SM and def overkill to share every September!
