Body after breastfeeding

I had a complicated time with breast feeding. I won’t bore with the story.

I stopped a couple of weeks ago. Baby is 6 months. Ever since stopping I’ve been bloated, got trapped wind pains, feel sick etc. I’m guessing it’s a reaction to the change in hormones and wondered if anyone else experienced the same?

Just to check, you're sure you're not pregnant again?

Ginfordinner · 05/09/2019 22:23

I agree. Time for a pregnancy test.

It took a while for my body to settle down after pregnancy and Breastfeedng. Peppermint tea or peppermint oil in warm water helped with trapped wind after giving birth. Could it be something you are eating? It will take time for your body and metabolism to even out after Breastfeeding. It may be your body ovulating and your period returning.

Mynameisnotthis · 06/09/2019 08:08

Oh peppermint tea is a good idea. Thanks!

The bloating and tummy pain has settled (after an upset tummy Blush) so maybe it was something I ate like you say @HandsReachingOut.

Think I was just feeling a bit overwhelmed as also having pelvic floor issues and pain. GP has referred me to gynaecology. Feeling a bit fed up as had a horrible time at the birth and with recovery so thought it was all on the up. Also found out afterwards that I have endometriosis that seems to have been activated from surgery.

Mehhhh

I reduced breastfeeding suddenly and I felt so ill for a couple of weeks - headaches, spaced out, tummy troubles, feeling faint - loads of weird symptoms that I think were just the hormones settling down. It lasted a couple of weeks.

Mynameisnotthis · 07/09/2019 10:34

@BogglesGoggles, it could be but I’ve felt this way for a couple of weeks. Maybe my period will appear in the next few days...

@ShadowKitty, thank you! I’ve started feeling spaced out too. Your post is very reassuring Flowers
