I was / you were / we were?

That's right isn't it?

I keep hearing people saying 'you was' or 'we was' (to the extent that I've even caught myself saying it a few times - the shame!) and I'm now doubting myself...

Help me grammar experts!

I grew up in Essex, very common usage there.

What is it with the current increasing usage of 'want' instead of 'wasn't', as 'I want going to go to the party'?

Is it people writing phonetically as they speak? Autocorrect? What? Because it's horrible and it's driving me mad!

“You was” is a sign of poor literacy - to say the least. It is wrong and embarrassing.

Here in Yorkshire you get "I were"all the time. Drives me made.
