Help!! Confused My eldest son is a fussy eater. He likes fruit but won't go near any vegetables. I've been thinking i could try a juicer as a way to introduce veg in to his diet. Has anyone else done this? Is it a bad idea?

I think it’s a good idea for veg just to get veg into him but keep up the proper whole fruit intake as well because it’s healthier than juicing. For the purposes that you want it for, I’d say it was ideal. Some people go way overboard though and juice all their 5 a day and it doesn’t do as much good

Yeah that's a good point i'd still make sure he had his fruit as usual. Thanks for you advice Smile

I put carrot, apple, a stick of celery, some fresh beetroot and sometimes a bit of ginger in. My DIL adds bits of cauliflower and other veggies - the GC never knew as long as there was apple flavour to disguise it. pears are also good

don't forget a tiny bit of oil if you're using carrots to help absorb the nutrients

Patrick2016 · 04/09/2019 16:53

really? that's interesting what oil is best would you say?

just a few drops of a neutral tasting oil. I believe it helps to better absorb the beta carotene

hi

forgot to say if they've eaten something with a fat in it recently (such as butter ) then that counts as the fat needed as well, so no need for extra in the drink.

If you juice it, no matter how many veg you put in, it still only counts as one of your five a day unfortunately.

I still like them though and it's still a healthy drink.
