Is this hand, foot & mouth?

Dd3 woke up on Sunday boiling hot and unwell. As the day went on she felt better. On Monday she woke up fine but had a rash on her legs. I thought it was chicken pox at first but it only stayed on her legs. As the day went on it popped up on her arm and about 6 on her face. Her legs are the worse.

She hasn’t no spots on her belly or back.

Is it hfm? Ds9 has came back from school feeling poorly today too 😩

She seems absolutely fine in herself just the spots! She’s supposed to go ballet on Friday and nursery next week 😭

Picture 1 is yesterday morning, then evening and just now

Is this hand, foot & mouth?

Looks similar to when my daughter and I got it. We felt dreadful with it and the spots as they emerged were painful although they’re not meant to be.

Looks a bit angry for hand, foot and mouth IMO.

Is there anything on the palms of her hands/soles of her feet?

If it’s only on the limbs then most likely hand, foot and mouth. With chickenpox it always starts on the belly then spreads rapidly.

My DS has it back in February when he was 13 months old. Took him to the pharmacy and the pharmacist didn’t think it was chickenpox and gave calamine lotion and allergy syrup for the itching. It took about a week to clear. I found the virasoothe helped to dry the spots up fast. It’s soothing and has a cooling effect.

It doesn't look like HFM to me

Abibranning · 03/09/2019 19:10

Check for ulcers, but it DS HFM didnt look that red more like blisters and massive ulcers

littlemeitslyn · 03/09/2019 19:10

Hasn't no spots !!?? Spotty then 😁

littlemeitslyn · 03/09/2019 19:11

C pox started on my chest

Nogodsnomasters · 03/09/2019 19:25

It doesn't look like hfm to me either, my ds has had it twice, one time mild, one time woefully.

Any blisters /ulcers inside lips, cheeks, tongues, around lips, palms, wrists, soles of feet, ankles, groin? If not then it's not likely to be hfm.

Do the spots seem to have any fluid inside them? If so then chicken pox, regardless of where they're situated. My ds chicken pox started on his neck and behind ears, took about 3 days before his whole body was covered tbh so there is no hard and fast rule about CP location/order.

She has two on her tongue, and one on her chin that popped up before the others, then a few little ones. She has some small ones on two fingers.

It looks so sore but she hasn’t said it hurts? Or has been itching it.

Ds is really unwell atm so I’m whatever it is he’s caught it? He says his chest and throat hurts when he swallows 😩

I'd probably take both of them to gp to have it checked out op. Ds could be something different if his chest and throat hurt, it may require an antibiotic. And wouldn't hurt to have a professional opinion on dd rash.

This looks a lot like when my DD had HFM, I thought it was thrush on her inner thighs before it became very clear that it definitely wasn't (just after an NCT reunion!). A lot of nurseries will still take them as long as they are not unhappy or poorly with it.
