Should I cancel my tattoo?

Had it booked for 4 weeks and appointment is tomorrow.

I've woken up with slight cramping indicating period is on the way soon, but the cramps can start the day before blood or 5 days before blood! I have no idea when it will kick off.

My period isn't regular and the first day has me in agony. I have pains in my thighs, headaches, nausea.

I don't want to mess her around but AF drops tomorrow I'm gonna be up shit creek.

But if it doesn't I've lost my spot and wasted her time.

Argh. What to do??

I would cancel. If you say you are unwell I'm sure it will be okay and someone may be pleased to get the cancellation

TanteRose · 03/09/2019 09:03

yeah cancel

I got a tattoo last year with my DD and we both had to coordinate periods Grin

HattieMcNastie · 03/09/2019 09:12

I will lose my deposit though and it's 50%.

I got the spot cheap as someone else had cancelled and it said no rearrangments on the post 😭

Depends what type of tattoo you get tbf, i was heavy on when i got mine but it was just a 50 pence size rose on my thigh. If youre having a full coloured in sleeve tat then yeah cancel. But also depends on how you deal with pain, if you freak out and get nauseous over needles and pain anyway then again, cancel. I deal with pain fine so i wasnt bothered.

crazylady7 · 03/09/2019 09:13

Have a big sugary drink before you go in and youll be fine lol

amusedbush · 03/09/2019 09:16

I had a five hour sitting while on my period and yes, it was a lot more painful than normal. I felt like shite afterwards and practically inhaled a massive McDonald's when it was done.

However if you're going to lose your deposit I'd just drink a lot of sugar and push through.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 03/09/2019 09:19

If the tattooist is female can you not be upfront with her and see what she can do with regards rearranging?

I’m sure she knows the link herself between periods and pain tolerance and will want to help if she can.

raspberryk · 03/09/2019 10:02

I wouldn't have even considered this in fact I think I was on when I had mine, I've never thought waxing, laser or anything was more painful when I had my period.

Raphael34 · 03/09/2019 10:09

I wouldn’t even have considered cancelling..

HattieMcNastie · 03/09/2019 10:17

I guess if you have normal periods you wouldn't.

But I spend the first day in bed on the verge of tears.
I'm going to go
If I have to call it quits I will

I wouldn’t get a tattoo (I’m a wimp) but wouldn’t half a tattoo because you can’t stand the pain of the period and tattoo be worse?

RushianDisney · 03/09/2019 10:31

Difficult one, my periods are pretty debilitating on the first day but I wouldn't want to lose my deposit so I would probably just load up on painkillers and get on with it. How big is the tattoo and how long was your session supposed to last?

HattieMcNastie · 03/09/2019 16:05

Baga. This is my 23rd tattoo

I have full sleeves.

Believe me. My period is 20 x more painful.

It's not huge. About 7 inches square.

I'll just have to power through.

I wouldn't cancel. Dose yourself up on strong painkillers, grin and bear it. It will be worth it for a gorgeous new tattoo.

Treaclebee · 03/09/2019 16:11

Maybe take a sugary drink and snack with you. I used to. In fact during one inking I must have been looking so pale the receptionist went out and bought me a bounty bar and a coke Grin
Hope it goes smoothly.
