What do strangers do that most annoys you?

I mean everyday things, not things like genocide.
For me it is standing blocking doorways as they chat away. It is the total lack of awareness of other people that really annoys me.

Noise. Drive noisy cars. Eat noisily.

Vote Leave.

Shockers · 02/09/2019 23:22

Walk up close behind me- especially when they’re talking.

Eat crunchy things near me.

Whistle.

Even thinking about those things has made me feel wobbly!

LoseLooseLucy · 02/09/2019 23:22

Spitting, dropping litter.

SandyGusset · 02/09/2019 23:23

I truly hate it when I fall in step with a stranger, I end up having to walk super slow so they pass, or super fast.

CakeNinja · 02/09/2019 23:24

Pick at themselves and leave various ‘bits’ for someone else to sit in/discover.
Bogies, bits in hair, scratching skin and flicking it, picking at feet... just grim.

WarmSausageTea · 02/09/2019 23:24

Whistling.
Scuffing their feet as they walk.

Myshitisreal · 02/09/2019 23:30

Talking on phone on bus/train /public place , phone notifications making intrusive noises , playing music on speaker in public places. Being thoughtless for other people on pavements like stopping suddenly, blocking the pathway, queue jumping.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 02/09/2019 23:33

Stopping their car on an otherwise empty road to let me and my DS cross. It's irritating, not necessary and doesn't help me teach him how to cross the damn road. Just drive, ffs.

Rainbowknickers · 02/09/2019 23:37

Weaving their way down the street so you can’t get past
Walking just that bit faster than you do you can’t overtake them
Eating while spitting food
Talking with mouths full

Persea · 02/09/2019 23:38

Playing music or watching TV or playing shit games on phones with no headphones - be it adults or children. No one else wants to hear whatever shit you are listening to, so have the decency not to inflict it on the rest of us FFS.

OMGshefoundmeout · 02/09/2019 23:40

Sniff.

Spit in the street.

novasglowx · 02/09/2019 23:42

Breathe Grin

Grumpbum123 · 02/09/2019 23:44

Standing behind you expecting you to be psychic what’s wrong with saying excuse me

Biggie123 · 02/09/2019 23:47

Sniffing
Wiping their nose with their hands on public transport
Sneezing then touching hand rails on public transport
Standing in stupid places unaware of hold-up they’re causing
Talk really loudly and dominate space they are in
Swear loudly on the phone when others ate around
Play music/film etc so loud that you can hear it despit earphones
Eat smelly food in shared spaces
Tailgate
Drive aggressively

I could go on for hours.
Apart from that I love my fellow human!

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 02/09/2019 23:53

'Do you mind if I push in' said as they are pushing in the queue.

Can you watch their child whilst they go have a smoke outside - I don't know them and I don't know their child. I am watching my child who is playing in a different area. They've walked away before I've even answered as I'm obviously happy to do it?!

Have you got a light?

Sorry, I don't smoke.... why am I apologising? Generally they pull a face and act affronted because I can't help them. I'm a stranger - I don't owe them anything!

PotNoodlePlease · 02/09/2019 23:54

Walk slow

Let their kids run riot

FairyDust92 · 03/09/2019 00:01

Walk in the middle of the path... move over! 🤬

Treaclebee · 03/09/2019 00:20

Sneeze and cough into open air. Especially bad if the person is taller than you and stood behind you in a queue.

managedmis · 03/09/2019 00:31

Stranding too close to me.

GeoffreyAndBungle · 03/09/2019 01:12

Sniffing - just blow your nose for gods sake!

Swearing as part of normal conversation - especially when kids around

Posing for selfies - bonus annoying points if doing that duck faced pout thing

Graphista · 03/09/2019 01:19

Oh god I'm so antisocial these days!
I should say I have pretty severe ocd which informs much of this but I actually don't think I'm being unreasonable about these!

Space invasion - I hate people being close to me much less touching me - back off! ESPECIALLY when I'm at an atm or paying at a till! You don't need to be so Fucking close you can see the fingerprints left on the buttons!

Stopping dead at top of escalators/travelators! - it's bloody rude and can cause nasty accidents move the fuck out the way!

Very obviously NOT wash hands after using loo - yes I have OCD but I've also learnt from being on mn that SOME things really are grim and its not me being weird! The worst incident was local McDonald's having taken dd for a treat with friend SERVER was in loo AGES clearly not for a wee, breezed out and went straight back to work handling food! Didn't even GLANCE at the sinks!

Sneezing/coughing without even using hand to cover let alone a tissue or hankie! Yea great just spread your germs to everyone!

Runkle · 03/09/2019 01:21

Blocking entraces/exits/escalators and the like, breathing heavily, sniffing, standing too close, not moving out the way when they've been served, exaggerated laughter/social performance.

Soola · 03/09/2019 01:23

Not put their hand to their mouth/nose when they cough or sneeze.

20viona · 03/09/2019 01:29

Stand close behind me in queues.

PawPawNoodle · 03/09/2019 01:31

Stand in front of the one sodding thing in the supermarket that I want to grab. They are either idly perusing the options without a care in the world or, even worse, staring at their phone. Just let me reach the fucking bacon please.
