Thought we could start a chat thread if there are any about?

I think there are some witch threads in Religion and Philosophy!

Rootsandshoots · 01/09/2019 22:34

Hmmm but the two really don’t go together as the devil is part of Christian religion and doesn’t exist in the Wiccan religion. But yes hello I am a solitary hedge witch (although I do drum as part of a circle) and would be happy to join a witchy chat thread :)

MoobaaMoobaa · 01/09/2019 22:37

bit odd you asking for Satanist or witches?

do you think them simular?

Interested in this thread?

Witches and satanists are not interchangeable as PP have said.

MonstranceClock · 01/09/2019 23:08

I all the satanist groups I’m part of there are witches too? As in levayan satanists, not “devil worshippers”. I don’t know anyone who actually worships the devil.

Wiccan witches in my fb group I should have said. Hello Roots! I’ve never met a hedge witch before. Could you explain a little about what you do?

Following

MonstranceClock · 01/09/2019 23:24

Are you a member of a group Dowser?

ReapersHowler · 01/09/2019 23:34

Satanists as in those that follow the Anton Levay teachings and church? I understand, it's very very feminist orientated and does a lot of good stuff in the USA.
I've read the satanic witch and can't honestly say I disagree with anything they teach in there.
Also they don't worship Satan as to believe in Satan they would have to believe in God and they don't Grin

I'm an eclectic witch but I love studying other religions too and happily take in a lot of the Satanic churchs messages in my life.

MonstranceClock · 01/09/2019 23:48

Hi Reapers! Nice to meet you. So happy to speak to someone who knows what satanism is haha. I’m too scared to tell people in real life because they think I sacrifice goats and babies Grin

I have a copy of the satanic witch on order as I’m interested in learning about the magic. What does being an eclectic witch involve? I’d like to learn more about witchcraft after a witch friend gave me a wand.

Just a member of a dowsing group.
I have an interest in let’s say the other side of things.
I’m very interested in healing, in energies , radionics
I’m keeping an open mind on all topics.

Rootsandshoots · 02/09/2019 07:13

Hi @MonstranceClock. Hedge witchery is more pagan than Wiccan. I see Gaia (Mother Earth) as my god - although I do speak to others when I’m meditating. I mainly use herbs and aromatherapy in my spells and have a keen interest in both reiki and crystal healing. I mainly practice alone although I am part of a shamanic drumming circle. Hope this helps and sorry for my apparent misunderstanding of what satanists do, it’s something I’ll have to read up on. Smile

MonstranceClock · 02/09/2019 08:18

Hi Dowser, I’ve googled but I can’t really see what dowsing is? Could you explain?

No need to be sorry Roots Smile that sounds really interesting. I live not too far from Boscastle which has quite a large witch population and am considering going to one of their gatherings to see if I fit in.

Wiccan here, hello!

Blessed be

Elphame · 02/09/2019 10:28

There are at least 2 sorts of Satanists.

The Levayan type and those who do honour/worship Satan as the antichrist. The latter is really a form of perverted Christianity.

Certainly I find little to disagree with in the tenets of the Satanic Temple:-

One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.

Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

And then there are those of us who have Luciferian leanings which is a whole other subject

MonstranceClock · 02/09/2019 10:31

I’m reading up on luciferian teachings. Could you explain a bit about what it is to you? Theres some stuff with Levayan satanism I do identify with, but some stuff I don’t. Recently I’ve started expanding my reading so I’m eager to learn about everything @elphame

OP posts:
Elphame · 02/09/2019 10:36

@MonstranceClock - why not come and join the witch chat thread in Philosophy and Religion. It is a more supportive forum than this and better suited to the subject

MonstranceClock · 02/09/2019 10:42

I will. I was worried a out posting over there about satanism. Didn’t want any pitch forks!

Certainly I find little to disagree with in the tenets of the Satanic Temple:-

I was listening to a podcast about the Satanic Temple and their opposition to Trump - from what I gathered they aren't aligned to the Levayan path. Not actual worshippers of Satan either, I should add. There's an upcoming documentary about them which looks quite interesting. www.theguardian.com/film/2019/aug/15/hail-satan-are-satanists-now-the-good-guys-in-the-fight-against-the-evangelical-right

Disclaimer - not a witch or a Satanist, but I know quite a few people who are.

MonstranceClock · 02/09/2019 12:09

Since discovering the satanic temple I’m definitely feel more drawn to their philosophy than Lavays.

BarbedBloom · 02/09/2019 12:59

Not a wiccan, but a solitary practitioner. I just came to recommend Reddit if you are interested as there are some great subs on there for witch stuff and the different types of satanism

MulticolourMophead · 02/09/2019 13:42

Following with interest. Have been agnostic for a long time, but have recently begun feeling drawn to hearth or house witchcraft. DD has said she's reading up on being a green witch and is developing an interest in gardening. I think we could be compatible in our journeys and can support each other.

Flowersaremylove · 02/09/2019 13:55

I’m a Witch

Not all Witches are Wiccan

Drabarni · 02/09/2019 13:57

I'm a Witch and not Wiccan too.

MonstranceClock · 02/09/2019 13:59

I don’t believe I’ve said that all witches are Wiccan?
