Kindle vs paper book

Which do you prefer?
I've always preferred having a hard copy of a book, especially if it's illustrated. As swiping a screen isn't quite the same experience as leafing through pages to admire pictures.

However, I have recently downloaded the kindle app so that I can read something on my hand held device instead of lugging a 1000+ paged book around with me. I think it's revolutionised my reading habit, as I am now going through kindle book at a faster rate than I would if I was picking up a paper copy.

I’ve read 41 books so far this year and I think only one was a paper one. I do still own lots of real books - I tend to keep my favourites, and I have a few first editions that I love.

I had one of the original kindle keyboard which I replaced with a Voyage (sad though it was a one off as I love it) and it’s hands down my favourite ever purchase. I use it every day and carry it everywhere. I have the app too if I’ve just nipped out and get delayed.

Most of my books are torrented tbh.

Thanks to all the PP who told me I could see how much of the book is left to read on my paperwhite - I've set it up, and I now have no complaints!

I swore I'd never have a Kindle - love paper, not the same, what's the point etc etc. I tried the app and hated it - the backlight was awful!

I was given a Paperwhite in 2014 and haven't parted with it since. I love that I can hold it with one hand snuggled under my duvet, I don't need a separate light, I have thousands of books at my fingertips whenever/wherever I want them, takes no storage space, it doesn't need dusting (bonus!)... I couldn't have gotten through night feeds without it!

I do still read paper books but I actually prefer the Kindle. I have crappy eyesight and one of my favourite things is that I can adjust text size/font when I feel the need.
