Pizza express figs and mascarpone

This is my favourite thing ever- it's like a mini dessert that you get with coffee- the figs are in a spiced syrup and served with mascarpone. It's called cafe realle. I go to PE purely to get this dessert. I would love to recreate it at home- I've asked in PE and they said they are often asked where to buy the figs but they get them from a wholesaler and they are not available to purchase.
Does anyone know where I can buy similar figs?!

Ha! I love this too when the DCs drag me to PE, I've made it at home but you have to poach fresh figs yourself in a lightly spiced syrup. It's really easy, just google figs poached in syrup.

I found a jar of baby figs in syrup at M&S - one of the bigger food halls that has a shelf of delicacies from other countries. Quite expensive but very nice. Unfortunately it was last year so no idea if they still stock them. I should think that a good specialist deli will stock them, though.

Just had a quick google, Ocado stocks them, Waitrose probably does as well.

It's my favourite pudding too! You can get the figs in a jar from Waitrose, it's called The Bay Tree marinated mini figs in syrup (or something like that!)

No Ocado where I am - will look out for them in m and s!

Something like this, and adjust the spices to taste.

I used to have a fig tree and make huge jars of them.

I miss my fig tree.

@thebellsofsaintclements - Waitrose I can do. This might have been a mistake!

Available on Amazon, looking at the reviews these seem to be exactly the same as PE, but can be had in Waitrose much more cheaply!

I loathe pizza and pasta but get dragged to PE by family that love the place. I go on condition I can have the salted caramel profiterols, to die for.

I love that too! The figs used to be sold by Merchant Gourmet in big jars with plain labels - I stocked up with several jars a couple of years ago but have now finally run out and they have stopped selling them. I'm devastated!

The Bay Tree sell marinated baby figs, which might be similar. I haven't tried those yet though.
