Has anyone had random phone calls from Guinea?

Over the past few days I’ve had 10 phone calls from Guinea and one from Botswana. I haven’t answered because I am assuming they are spam. But they all come from different numbers which do not come up if googled. Anyone else?

Yes! I've had numerous over the last few days. It's strange because I've never had spam calls before. One from Guyana also.

ExCwmbranDweller · 01/09/2019 12:37

I've had one from Malaysia which I just ignored. Made a change from Manchester or Leeds which is where the majority of my spam calls come from.

inboxmayhem · 01/09/2019 12:47

How do you stop any of these calls coming through? Drives me NUTS

TurquoiseWeekend · 01/09/2019 12:53

Yes two today!

runningme · 01/09/2019 12:56

I've had 2 - yesterday and today.

Justgivemesomepeace · 01/09/2019 12:58

They are spam. If you are on O2, they are aware. The fraud team are currently investigating to get the numbers blocked.

Multiple! And early this morning too!! Driving me insane!

Has anyone had random phone calls from Guinea?
Justgivemesomepeace · 01/09/2019 13:00

Dont answer them and definately DONT RING THE NUMBERS BACK.

TitianaTitsling · 01/09/2019 13:00

And yep am on O2!

TitianaTitsling · 01/09/2019 13:02

Tried to ignore and bloody hit ring back but thankfully hung up before connected- is it O2 only issue?

NoWordForFluffy · 01/09/2019 13:03

Taiwan and Kuwait for me. I've just swapped from O2, so maybe they're the reason.

BertrandRussell · 01/09/2019 13:03

Yes, I’m O2 as well. I’m used to ignoring calls from Leeds and Manchester -which is tricky because I’ve got family in both places.....
@Justgivemesomepeace I know not to answer the calls- but what would happen if I did?

If you did it may incur charges, however they will be refunded. You wont need to call, it will just be done and show as a charge and credit on your bill.

Millyjd · 01/09/2019 19:23

I have had 21 calls day and night for the last 24 hours its driving me mad!

TitianaTitsling · 01/09/2019 19:47

Ditto Milly!

I'm on EE and have had 2 calls from Guinea today. Hopefully they will get bored when they realise I don't answer. One left a silent 20 second voicemail when I didn't pick up but the other didn't.

ratspeaker · 01/09/2019 19:55

Ive had them too including one at 4am.ffs
Its on the Tesco payg phone I use for companies, deliveries etc.
Several from Guinea, some from Guyana.
Aways a few rings then stops.

I think Tesco use theO2 network

DramaAlpaca · 01/09/2019 19:57

I've had a few recently. I'm on 3 Ireland so it's not just O2 & not just UK.

LovedButUnlovely · 01/09/2019 19:59

I had one from Guinea yesterday. Bizarre.

nancy75 · 01/09/2019 20:00

I’ve had 2 calls today, DH has had 76 since yesterday evening!!
DH has turned his phone off for the foreseeable future ( it was that or throw it at the wall!) we are both with o2

mathanxiety · 01/09/2019 20:03

I'm in the US and get calls from Rwanda.

Also recorded calls telling me that Microsoft is being shut down and giving me the number to call for my refund..

So glad my mum is a total Luddite who never wanted a computer.

TowelNumber42 · 01/09/2019 20:06

Giffgaff. One from Guinea and one from Guyana yesterday.

StarlightLady · 01/09/2019 20:10

It’s a scam. They want you to phone them back at great expense, then they can hack into your number. Report it to your provider. I hate to say it but a friend of mine had to change her number in the end.

Whatnotwot · 01/09/2019 20:18

I’m with EE and I’ve not had any of these calls for about a month now. Before that it was every day but none from GuInea. I had some from Poland, Italy, Australia and Germany. The German ones were the first I got and I bloody answered 2 before I realised they were scam (I have family in Germany and the first call was 8.30am which panicked me because we don’t ring that early and always use WhatsApp.) My bill that month was £42 instead of £20.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 01/09/2019 20:20

Yes! Me last night! Several calls with slightly different number endings. I’m with Tesco.
