Grain Free Recipes

I’ve just been diagnosed with Oral Mite Anaphylaxis (after three years of absolute hell with food allergies). I’m also allergic to sulphites so alcohol is out (apart from Gin and Tonic!)

I’m a massive foodie and am looking for some tried and tested grain free recipes that I can make. I can’t eat rice, corn, wheat, anything like that or cheese, ham and salami. And need to avoid anything from hot and humid production countries as it’s more likely to be contaminated with mites.

I can eat potatoes and swedes etc., meat, fresh vegetables. I have some homemade chilli sauce and can make marinades with fresh ingredients. I have a wok and a slow cooker and an oven.

Any tips on recipes would be really welcome please :-)

I think Paleo would be a good start, maybe with added potatoes!
Can you eat buckwheat? You could have soba noodles.

Look at pulses, too. Eggs are good.

Start thinking of stuff you CAN eat, and go from there.

I think a very simple diet using fresh fruit and veg in season with fish and meat with nice sauces.

Does the hot/ humid production countries rule out asian cuisine?

Cauliflower rice
Butternut squash or courgette noodles

Wow...never heard of it. What are your symptoms?
No rice either..that’s bad news.
Me and dh are completely gf and dairy free so I feel your pain
Can you have gram flower..we enjoy a gram flour pizza
Buckwheat is good too.
It’s such a nightmare isn’t it?
But when you’ve been so ill you’ll do anything to get rid of the pain

Thanks so much! I've just put a lamb, vegetable and potato stew into the slow cooker.

I can't eat any flour at the moment, but I can have tinned chickpeas and beans.

Can have eggs so will be making breakfasts egg based.

@Dowser it causes anaphylaxis so it can range from vomiting and coming out of hives to going into anaphylactic shock. I've been in and out of hospitals and spent a lot of time in intensive care.

Thankfully they now seem to know what it is, but it is rare and so it has taken a while to get a diagnosis.

You could have a look at Wellnessmama. All her recipes are grain free.
