Just brought a KitchenAid- tell me it’s worth it?!

It was reduced to £300 from £400 and I’m desperate for a decent stand mixer as mine’s been broken for months.

I do a lot of baking and want to turn it into a business when kids are older. But feel guilty and selfish for the price.

Those that own them, tell me I won’t regret it ....

I have one. It has a name and everything. I find so many uses for it. Don't worry, you've done the right thing Sounds like an absolute steal tbh!

I love my KA, he has a name too. It's the most beautiful but also most expensive kitchen ornament.

I go through fits and starts of using it a lot but I ALWAYS love looking at it!!

I love mine for its looks alone

DH uses it more than me, he makes fabulous soda bread with it.

I just stroke it occasionally.

My DH bought me one for Christmas 2 years ago... it stood proudly on the shelf for a while but then I hit my focaccia baking mojo (plus my already mojo'd up pizza dough love got a hole heap better once I realised how much more the KA worked the dough so I could then do the whole cheffy knuckle twist thang)

and THEN we discovered we could buy pasta attachments. Since then DH has made I think 90% of the pasta we eat - yeah we can't do shapes but we've adjusted to having sauces that work or ravioli - it is amazing!

Definitely worth it. Try whisking egg whites. DM was amazed how much volume you could get out of them.
We also have the orange squeezer attachment which is wonderful.

You've bagged a bargain! I've had mine for 6 years now and love it. Cakes taste so much better when made in it. If mine ever broke I would definitely replace. It also looks so good in my kitchen!

I’ve had mine for about 15 years and it’s still as good as new. I don’t use it daily but it is well used.
I also got the grater attachment when I bought the mixer and that’s a really handy extra. I made coleslaw for 10 yesterday in about five minutes.
I’d love to get a few more attachments one day.

I have the ice cream maker attachment which is excellent!

I love my kitchenaid. I've had it for around 10 years I think.
I don't have a lot of elbow grease so I wouldn't cook much without it

Mine's 18 years old and used pretty much daily. We make all our own bead in it as well as cakes etc.

Definite waste of money. You will probably feel less guilty and selfish if you get it out of your home immediately so you don't have to look at it.

Mine's about 18 years old. It goes through dry patches when I'm too busy to use it, but it still looks and works fab.

Mine also has a name and she is a beautiful shiny red.

Love her. Go through stages of using her but she's great for bread and any kind of baking.

I also like using her for mash but that's faffy to clean.

I would say don't bother with the shred attachments. Food processor easier to use and clean tbh

I imagine it will get used on an almost daily basis as I’m planning to make bread (and eventually pasta when I get the attachment). Looks like I’m justified in splashing out. Phew!

Of course other processors work as well, last the same and cost less so it’s not worth it if you’re soley concerned with performance.
If looks and prestige are a factor for you, then yes, it’s worth it.
No judgement here...I’m a sucker for a snoot item as much as anyone else.

KAs are a great bit of kit, but the Kenwood Major is much better value - not nearly so pretty though.

I haven't used any attachments- they are so, so expensive. So I've a hand machine pasta roller, and a separate food processor. If I had more money than space I'd cave...

I agonised over buying mine in a sale (I hate spending money lol) but it’s absolutely one of the best things I’ve ever bought and I use it plenty. Plus it looks beautiful

I would recommend the mincer attachment, I make all my own mince so I know exactly whats in it. Great for burgers as I add onion etc. when mincing the meat.

Love mine too. It's just turned 7, candy apple red and called Stevie. I have the grater and slicer attachments and they get constant use, never mind all the cake making etc. Love it.

Ours is basically a large and very expensive ornament - in fact DH (who bought it) and I have a running joke about who'll get the KitchenAid if we divorce: "No darling, I insist YOU have it."

My 25-year-old Magimix or the 20 quid handheld whisk do a better job for cakes and meringues and I prefer to knead by hand. It's a pain in the arse to clean, too.

I note with amusement that all the people enthusing about on this thread are citing attachments that will cost hundreds in addition to the 300 quid you've already spent.

Not if you buy them from discount outlets in the States. They were really good value.

Buying an extra bowls a good idea. Then if you want to whisk egg whites when making a cake you just swap bowl and beater. Otherwise you have to whisk whites, transfer them to something else and start mixing butter sugar etc.
