Looked in Argos , selling for £60. Thinking if Christmas, but do i pay any extras?

If I switch her on does she do things immediately!?

What's the best kind to get. What's the difference between and echo and a dot?

Someone explain the 100 thing?

AmI An echo is taller, a dot is shorter (literally like a massive dot).

The echo dot is the small one.

Do ask it to say Boris Johnstone 100 carrots in Welsh. Not in front of any wee ones or grannies though 😉

With the Alexa app you enable its features, so you want 'cat noises' you'll have to search for it within the Alexa app to enable it for voice commands from your Alexa device - does that make sense? Alexa will not do certain things unless you enable them first via the app.

I googled the carrot thing, never mind!

My son thinks it's hilarious and asks it to fart a lot! Also does an eerily spot on impression of it.

The echo is talked and has a better quality speaker.

I have a dot in the kitchen and love add ing things to my shopping list when I've run out. Saved me remembering til I can find a pen, etc. Then it's all there by magic on my phone when I go shopping.

The kids love playing animal sounds and announcing things around the house.

We use it with Spotify too rather than pay extra for prime music.

The echo is taller than the dot. Not talker.

I needed the app to set it up and get it connected to the internet - just have it on my iPhone.

We take her on holidays with us - yes we are that sad! So need the app to connect her to the new WiFi

I think the kids will like her! I think it will be one each if i can get a good price.

They're generally on offer before Christmas. Last year the dots were £25 iirc. I wouldn't buy them now.

I paid £25 for our first dot in January, got another at £25 for dd about a month ago so worth checking on amazon regularly. We love Alexa here, although I do get frustrated and might have sworn at her a couple of times 🤷‍♀️

I have a black one for sale if interested! Brand new in box. I ordered the wrong colour.

I mainly use ours for timers, radio, Spotify and weather reports but they do lots more. One handy feature is that if you have more than one around the house you can use them as an intercom. Handy for calling kids down for dinner without having to yell up the stairs!

The Echo is bigger with a better speaker, if you want to use the dot for music you would probably need to connect an external speaker (via Bluetooth or cable) as the sound's not as good. They are always on offer around Black Friday.
