Someone caught me doing a cartwheel at work

TreatOrPeek · 31/08/2019 13:11

I generally cover Saturday, no clients here.

Just myself doing some admin that needs catching up on. One or two other members of staff.

I was in the open plan seating area tidying some leaflets when the overwhelming urge to see if I could still cartwheel came over me Blush

I put my arms up like an Olympic gymnast after landing a difficult tumble move. Dear Christ, what have I done. It turns out a colleague was there and he was very Confused

The man I'm speaking about is very dry and dull, I know he won't bring it up to anyone else. But dear me, what have I done?

Even in front of him, I can't believe someone's seen me make such a tit of myself.

I can't go back into work now, can I? I can't believe I've been so bloody stupid.

Though I would share to lighten the load. If I tell DH he'll think I'm a weirdo

OP posts:

I was proving to my boss that I could still walk on my hands when her boss walked in.

Euromillsplz · 31/08/2019 13:49

🤣🤣🤣

Chesntoots · 31/08/2019 13:50

I as showing my cousins daughter how to do cartwheels in the park the other day. I'm on the downhill slope to 50 and couldn't care less what people think.

Might have to do the Olympic Hand next time though...

Hidingtonothing · 31/08/2019 13:52

If it helps OP (and PP's reporting similar incidents!) I think you're a little bit awesome Smile The world would be a better place if we all did cartwheels and ran everywhere like Phoebe from Friends Grin

SallyOMalley · 31/08/2019 13:53

Good work.

I popped in to work to collect a package the other weekend. I bumped into a senior lecturer, a researcher and a PhD student having a wheely chair race in the corridor. 👍😁

Lamentations · 31/08/2019 13:59

I have really strong urges to do handstands up against walls at work. How strange that this is an actual thing?!

MrsMozartMkII · 31/08/2019 14:00

SecretWitch So funny Grin What did the boss's boss say?

soundsgreektome · 31/08/2019 14:02

The urge to do these things is like nothing else. My serious urge that could not be denied was to do a series of high kicks, alternating legs down the work corridor. Whilst my boss appeared from nowhere in the opposite direction. So high were my high kicks I nearly took his head off. I’m no longer an employee there.

ISmellBabies · 31/08/2019 14:09

Stealth boast? Wink Grin

scoobydoo1971 · 31/08/2019 14:10

Own that cartwheel, I am green with envy. I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome and it has dislocated my toes and snapped my foot tendons, and given me tendonosis which means surgery for me. Fair to say I am in agony today and have not slept for a few nights. Your post put a smile on my face as I would love to do something like that, you are a trooper. You harmed no one and your physical prowess is to be applauded!!! Who cares what Mr Dull thinks of your conduct...life is short!

SecretWitch · 31/08/2019 14:14

MrsMozartMkll The big boss just shook her and walked away.

Zakana · 31/08/2019 14:19

@scoobydoo1971 me too, EDS type 3 and I defo can’t still do a handstand, much less a cartwheel! OP made me chuckle so much, it’s the sort of thing I’ve been caught doing when I was younger, the worst was when my front fastening bra pinged open (due to excessive force behind it) and I was in an important meeting with my male boss, I felt naked and shrieked when it happened and clasped my chest! I was mortified at the time, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid if I did it now!

TeamUnicorn · 31/08/2019 14:27

I too experience overwhelming urges to cartwell down the office

Alas I don't because a) I can't and b) serious senior boss person would choose that moment to walk through the office. (Fun senior boss person would demand a 'dance off')

Troels · 31/08/2019 15:59

I'd love to be able to still do a cartwheel.
You should have stood up straight at the end, arms in the air and shouted Da Daarh.
I bet he's secretly amused/impressed and not as dry as you think.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/08/2019 16:00

I can’t go back to work now, can I.
Probably not. If Mr Dull doesn’t snitch CCTV will.
It’s not all bad though. There’s always the travelling 🎪 to fall back on🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 31/08/2019 16:42

A male colleague of mine took a long run up and executed a perfect handspring in the middle of a busy newsroom. Nothing was said but there was a general air of appreciation.

CatkinToadflax · 31/08/2019 16:43

If I could do a cartwheel, it would be my main mode of transportation

Grin Grin Grin Makes me think of Miranda Hart galloping!

I was having a real grump until I started reading this thread. Respect to all of you - I have never been able to do a proper cartwheel or even a reasonably straight handstand. I have no medical reasons why either, I'm just embarrassingly un-agile! Blush

Bluewavescrashing · 31/08/2019 16:46

You are my hero OP!

Biscuitsneeded · 31/08/2019 16:47

Cartwheeling less embarrassing then farting. Own it and be proud.

Biscuitsneeded · 31/08/2019 16:48

than

Tigger001 · 31/08/2019 17:06

or he dropped into the splits the minute he left the room

Haha that is such a funny image, made me laugh out loud.

OP just own it. If he is not going to mention it anyway, what does it really matter.

CantspellWontspell · 31/08/2019 17:13

I once gave into the urge to do Jete's across the school assembly hall once, whilst tidying up after the school fair (no kids except mine around). Of course the Head walked past the window at that moment didn't he.

Least it gave me a legit excuse to quit the PTA.

HollowTalk · 31/08/2019 17:22

I'm laughing so much at this.

ducklingpie · 31/08/2019 17:23

Reading this made me check if I can still cartwheel... I then had to see if I could do a handstand too... wobbly but yeah! Thanks OP I feel stupidly chuffed with myself and am bouncing around grinning 😁

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 31/08/2019 17:28

Class Act OP
That made me laugh so much.
