Where has all the ibuprofen gone?

Just that really.
I’ve been in a few different supermarkets this week and there doesn’t seem to be any of the own brand ibuprofen anywhere.
They have Nurofen, but I refuse to buy that on the grounds that it’s the same as the 45p stuff.
Is this a Brexit stockpiling thing?

I have been into Tesco a few times and not seen any. I buy them every week as my son has a pain problem. I can find the branded expensive ones. But not the Tesco own anywhere.

somewheresorted · 31/08/2019 11:28

Go ask how many packets they’ve stashed on the Brexit stockpiling threads - there’s your answer!

Roomba · 31/08/2019 11:29

I've read similar threads about paracetamol recently - it does seem that there's a lot of Brexit stockpiling going on.

Sainsbury’s had plenty of own brand yesterday ( London suburbs)

Aderyn19 · 31/08/2019 11:32

Waitrose had loads yesterday. And Aldi also has it

FredaFrogspawn · 31/08/2019 11:34

Loads in Boots in Paddington station.

NannyR · 31/08/2019 11:36

Loads in Morrison's yesterday, paracetamol too. The cheapest ibuprofen was a type I'd never seen before though - called ibucalm and it was pink rather than white tablets.

Pinetreesfall · 31/08/2019 11:37

I was just thinking this too - nothing in Boots. We're in south Devon.

puppymouse · 31/08/2019 11:38

I've just been put on a 5 week course by GP and Boots in the village said they can't get hold of it for love nor money at the moment. I got the last two big boxes.

Our supermarket is stock as usual, picked some up this morning.

Welliesandpyjamas · 31/08/2019 11:48

This happens every so often and has done for years, regardless of shop size/type, in my experience. No idea why, just something I have noticed 😄

SnugglySnerd · 31/08/2019 11:51

I have found the same in Tesco and also in our local shop. Only expensive Nurofen.

Autumnintheair · 31/08/2019 12:25

Dh brought tesco own brand yesterday, both.

EskewedBeef · 31/08/2019 12:52

I got some in Home Bargains yesterday.

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 31/08/2019 13:22

I got both in Wilkinson’s this morning, there seemed to be plenty

LillithsFamiliar · 31/08/2019 13:25

Tesco here has lots.

MitziK · 31/08/2019 13:34

Pound shop has tons.

I reckon that the cheaper ones disappear every so often because businesses want to make up a bit of cash flow by only stocking the expensive brands - where I am, Boots have been known to hide the cheapies behind the counter and only bring them out when you ask them directly for the cheapest ones, for example.

I wouldn't put it past them to be doing it deliberately in anticipation of brexit stockpiling.

bellinisurge · 31/08/2019 13:35

Loads still in shops.

georgialondon · 31/08/2019 13:40

It must all be in London. No shortage here!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 31/08/2019 14:27

Down south

And they had quite a bit of both in the shops i was in today

The cheapest shop being Savers i think...paracetamol at 19p a pack

RezCowgirl · 31/08/2019 15:48

I just bought some in Aldi

Winsomelosesome · 31/08/2019 15:54

Just been to tesco, also Scotland, and the shelves were full of own brand Ibuprofen and paracetamol just as well as I have a stinking cold virus.
