Personal or historical

I've always been fascinated by the novel "futility" about a ship called Titan, described as unsinkable, which hits an iceberg 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland in April and goes down with few survivors due to a lack of lifeboats on board... published in 1898 Shock

(It was also more or less the same size and speed of the titanic which also went down in April in the North Atlantic 400 miles off Newfoundland)

More personally, (This is outing so may be due another name change!) but I "met" a lady on the antenatal groups on MN. We had our DC the same day, gave them the same (not top 100 or anything) name, and then made friends on FB and worked out that our families owned holiday apartments abroad in the same block about 30 years ago and we had holidayed together when too young to remember!

Any other stories?

My great x 4 grandparents - Duncan and Annie . Had a daughter called Mary . She married a man called William . They had a son called Duncan . He married an Annie . They had a son William who married ... Mary .

Mary’s parents were called .... Duncan and Annie .

Fast forward fifty or so years - my mum gets engaged. At the wedding she meets my father’s cousin - same name as her grandfather (William - the second one) ... even the same last name .. and where was he brought up ? In the very same house that the first William and Mary raised their family in the mid 1800s ... about 200 miles from where my mother and father were brought up and met .

At the wedding my mums granda was stunned to realise he knew the groom’s family well - very well - and had known them since he was a boy . Even as far as sharing a desk at school with one of them .

We have gradually agreed that father and mother’s family are 90% likely distant cousins . Very strange trying to write out family tree !!

Lloyd’s bank allocated the same card PIN to me and DH. Four years apart, for entirely separate accounts.

It actually really pisses me off, as surely that’s our chance of a lottery jackpot win screwed Grin

Worgurst

That is weird, unless they have a limited pool of default PIN numbers maybe?
