My Ocado order hasn’t turned up!

Seemed like a good idea at the time. I get up at 5:30 so selected a delivery between 6 and 7am. They always arrive at the beginning of the slot.

Here I am at 7:05, dog hasn’t been walked, I haven’t had a shower and I need to get to work by 8am 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Not sure I will try to squeeze one in before work again!

Can you check on the app to see if there is an update from them advising on delivery?

PETRONELLAS · 30/08/2019 07:11

I think they’re rubbish. Cancelled so many orders in the past. I boycott.
Good luck!

LifeOfBox · 30/08/2019 07:15

It’s here! I have never had a problem before and never get substitutes so I keep using them.

Driver didn’t give a fig - I politely pointed out he was late - expected an apology - he said “I have to come from Leeds” ... and?

I thought the same as you (currently waiting for Waitrose in a 7-8am slot)

However I think the first hour is probably spent picking and loading so they arrive at the end of your delivery slot, and then near the beginning of the next one IYSWIM?

Complain to Ocado, bet you get some vouchers.

Chocrock · 30/08/2019 07:22

Contact Ocado and complain they will usually compensate you. The driver should have apologised though.

kiwiblue · 30/08/2019 07:22

Yes definitely email ocado and complain. Also complain the driver didn't call you to let you know what apologise (they're supposed to do that). You'll get a voucher, last time my driver was due to arrive at 7.30-8.30 and came at 10 and was rude, I got a £10 voucher!

Meltedicicle · 30/08/2019 07:25

They gave me compensation when they arrived 30 mins late without me asking for it! Have to say, Ocado has been the best delivery service I’ve used, only one bad experience so far.

plunkplunkfizz · 30/08/2019 07:27

Last month an order was showing as delivered in the last minute of the time slot and a full twenty minutes before the driver actually arrived. I wonder if they have targets and calling would alert someone central to fact the target hasn’t been met.

SingingLily · 30/08/2019 07:38

Ocado delivered my Christmas order to another house in a completely different postcode. Several phone calls later, they agreed to replace the order, send it out the next day in record time, discount it by 10% and add a bottle of wine by way of apology.

The following day, the order arrived minus several key items, by then out of stock. They forgot the bottle of wine and charged me a whacking delivery fee.

Several phone calls later...

Even so, complain.

LifeOfBox · 30/08/2019 07:40

The guy said, ‘I started 40 miles away’. I really don’t think that’s my problem. It wouldn’t normally matter with an evening delivery but Like everyone else I have to earn a living, I would have gone for the 5-6am slot if I had thought about the possibility of them being late.

Squeezing it in seemed like a fab idea in my busy week.

I might email them, wouldn’t want the driver to end up in it though, he is just doing his job like the rest of us isn’t he? Attitude not tip top but that’s life sometimes.

With a shocking irony I'm still waiting Hmm

Apparently my driver left the store at 8.10 - my slot was 7-8am.

LifeOfBox · 30/08/2019 18:06

Did it turn up Flap?

OP posts:
NoBaggyPants · 30/08/2019 18:11

He was ten minutes late. You'd be bloody petty to complain about that in the knowledge that the driver will get into trouble.

caffeinebuzz · 30/08/2019 18:18

Driver should call and let you know if he's going to be late, as at least then you could have gone ahead with shower, etc. You should get a voucher if you complain.

It's also worth knowing that when drivers have been running late in the past, I've called to tell them I need to go out and they've always been happy to reschedule for later the same day, or first thing the next morning if a late delivery.

LifeOfBox · 30/08/2019 18:18

RTWT for gods sake. I haven’t complained, but actually I booked a particular slot because I had to get to work, for a meeting - why the heck should I be late for work?

How do you know he will get into trouble exactly? Do you work for Ocado?

If their scheduling means that the guy hasn’t got enough time to get from A to B then Ocado do need to know about it. Wakefield side of Leeds to me in 45 minutes is unreasonable at any time of day.

BeerandBiscuits · 30/08/2019 18:19

Don't complain, the driver wouldn't have been late on purpose and probably feeling very stressed if he got stuck in traffic.
I love Ocado, never had a late delivery and they often phone to ask if they can deliver early

LifeOfBox · 30/08/2019 18:21

It’s not about complaint though is it. Perhaps Ocado just need to realise that they can’t expect the man to get from x to y in 45 minutes.

OP posts:
TreacherousPissFlap · 30/08/2019 18:29

35 minutes late - I called customer services to see what was happening and they are "escalating a complaint" Blush

It's not about complaining about the driver himself, it's the inconvenience of ordering something to turn up at X time because you have work or whatever, and that being messed up as a result.

LifeOfBox · 30/08/2019 18:33

Quite right Flaps.

As for the driver ‘probably feeling very stressed’, turning up late for a multi party meeting didn’t exactly make me feel relaxed but never mind.

OP posts:
Moveoverplease · 30/08/2019 19:34

At the very least he should've kept you informed that he was running late.

I would inform them as like you say, if at that time of the morning he can't physically get there in time, then Ocado need to know so they don't book people in for that time in that area.
Otherwise, if you pay for a particular slot (and often the delivery cost varies with the time), then you should expect them to turn up within that time(bar an accident or something holding them up).
Even then, someone should be courteous enough to let you know.
