I was on Tax Credit since I started Uni 2 years ago and I have 2 daughters. Our area didn’t do the roll out for Universal Credit yet but due to circumstances and our landlord wanting to sell our rental place and me struggling to find a new place for ages that even not even the council could help, my boyfriend moved to my area and we moved in together.
That was earlier the year. I did a change if circumstance with Tax Credit which triggered me to move over to UC. Due to his low income and me being a student we qualify for UC until I can better my situation with my degree. When I spoke to school during the house move I told them about the change and said that would mean that my girls would need to come off free school meals even though I knew deep down I’d struggle. They said actually they are still entitled to stay on it.
My eldest is starting Year 7 and the form in June asked if she qualifies for FSM, which I ticked no to as I assumed that technically maybe they only qualified for the rest of the 2018/2019 academic year. However I’ve now read up on this which is a little confusing and I can see on my local council that perhaps she might still qualify.
This of course would be a big help over the next 2 years whilst I’m finishing my degree but understand if not. Can someone please help me and advice before I call them in the morning.
Thanks
