Cotswold Buff Chipping. Not the colour I imagined. Help!

I’ve just had 8 dumpy bags of Cotswold Buff chipping spread across my front garden and I’m a bit disappointed with the colour. It’s very golden yellow, and resembles dog biscuits! I was expecting something paler.
On closer inspection, it appears to be covered in yellow sand, so does this wash off and reveal the true colour? I've tried washing a few bits indoors but I've just made it wet and it looks even worse!
Can anyone reassure me because I can’t really send it back!

Didn't you look at samples of it first before ordering tonnes of the stuff?!

Flower777 · 29/08/2019 19:20

It will fade really quickly I imagine so I wouldn’t worry too much at this stage.

Oh is it stone?

Sorry I was imagining wood chippings!

I don’t know if stone fades.

Have you never been to the Cotswolds? It's all yellow.

Absolutely, I did look at samples beforehand. It was exactly what I wanted.
It's not until it's been delivered and spread around, that I'm feeling doubtful. I thought at first, it was a bit damp and it did it start to become paler as it dried, but not the shade I was expecting. It's golden Confused

If you look at a sample of Cotswold Buff chipping, it's definitely a paler stone colour.

It will weather and change colour a bit.
