I have to get my 66 year old Auntie a birthday present and I'm totally stumped, please help.

She doesn't drink, she doesn't appreciate nice toiletries, if you get her a nice candle she won't burn it, it just sits there wrapped in plastic. She doesn't like flowers. She doesn't like jewellery. She doesn't like new books as why pay for them when you get just get them out of the library.

She's very close to my son so last year I did her a big picture frame of pics of the two of them but I can't do that again

Budget about £50. Help me, I'm stumped!!

Could you get your son to make something? Like a picture of them together or a decorate a box to store all the candles in Blush

Maybe your son could decorate a cake for her and you could go round and have tea or cake. It sounds like she isn't worried about presents! X

Scarf? Clothes? Dressing gown? With receipt so she can return [smileWink?
I feel your pain - my mum is the same. Although framed photos are always well received

BuckingFrolics · 29/08/2019 16:19

NoSauce · 29/08/2019 16:22

What does she like?

PoffleWaffleWoo · 29/08/2019 16:23

She likes:

-reading
-watching reality TV
-walking the dog
-spying on the neighbours

I don't know what she does all day if I'm honest.

I’d get her an Alexa - the little Echo Dot 3rd generations are about £40 each and older people seem to love them.

Libraries do ebooks now, that you can borrow and return from the comfort of your sofa! Would she be up for that? Is she any good with technology? You generally can’t read them on a Kindle, but you can in other devices like a Nook or a smart phone.

Scruffalicious · 29/08/2019 16:24

Binoculars.

irishtwo · 29/08/2019 16:24

Meal or hair voucher? A post office voucher think they can be used in a lot of shops. Or nice flowers and chocs from marks?

NoSauce · 29/08/2019 16:25

New wellies?

irishtwo · 29/08/2019 16:26

Just seeing the reality tv update what about a fire stick / subscription to Netflix?

peridito · 29/08/2019 16:26

lovely socks /slippers ? A clothing accessory for winter walks - scarf ,gloves ?

RatherBeRiding · 29/08/2019 16:26

Walking the dog - nice luxury scarf for the winter months?

CassianAndor · 29/08/2019 16:26

jigsaw
mug
tea towel
bling collar for the dog

do you need to spend £50?

PoffleWaffleWoo · 29/08/2019 16:27

She is utterly technologically inept, I can't even persuade her to use a very basic mobile phone. She still collects her pension at the post office for crying out loud!!!

PoffleWaffleWoo · 29/08/2019 16:27

No I don't need to spend fifty quid, but that's about what she spends on me (she gives you money, John Lewis vouchers or scarves and hats)

OP posts:
RebeccaRae · 29/08/2019 16:28

Smart leather gloves
Posh slippers
Extremely fancy chocolates
Bale of good towels
Nice tea tray

GiantKitten · 29/08/2019 16:29

Scruffalicious
Binoculars

That made me snigger, thank you Grin

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 29/08/2019 16:30

Why not just give her a £50 John Lewis voucher then?

I still think the Echo is a good oldie gift though.

CassianAndor · 29/08/2019 16:31

just because she spends £50 on you doesn't mean you have to spend the same on her, especially if she's very difficult to buy for.

Soola · 29/08/2019 16:32

Mason Pearson hairbrush.
