Help I'm totally stumped

I have to get my 66 year old Auntie a birthday present and I'm totally stumped, please help.

She doesn't drink, she doesn't appreciate nice toiletries, if you get her a nice candle she won't burn it, it just sits there wrapped in plastic. She doesn't like flowers. She doesn't like jewellery. She doesn't like new books as why pay for them when you get just get them out of the library.

She's very close to my son so last year I did her a big picture frame of pics of the two of them but I can't do that again

Budget about £50. Help me, I'm stumped!!

Pajamas
Nice coffee if she drinks it
Chocolate (or sweets of her liking)
A plant for the house or garden
A voucher

Grambler · 29/08/2019 17:03

Something for the dog - a nice coat or something
Chocolates.
Gloves - what about the recycled cashmere wrist warmers?
GPS for not getting lost on walks

Last year someone had a "what can I buy for my impossible mother" christmas thread and it was a treasure trove. I will try to find it...

I'm not sure I can but try these:

I still think the Echo is a good oldie gift though.

She's 66 not 86!

Jessbow · 29/08/2019 17:09

If you fancy a mag subscription, YOURS is quite good.

By a copy, have a read, see what you think. its fortnightly

Boswellisdead · 29/08/2019 17:12

Cushion/jigsaw/mug with photo on it is nice idea.

As is something fancy for the dog? They have all sorts of fancy leads and collars and shampoos and coats and bow ties and such for doggie friends these days.

TowelNumber42 · 29/08/2019 17:15

Ask her?

Donate to a dog charity.

Darceysbadtoe · 29/08/2019 17:16

Cashmere bed socks.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 29/08/2019 17:18

Sounds like my mother!

What about some nice versions of what she uses? Tea / coffee / biscuits? Soap? Bubble bath? Either a few bits or one thing thats ridiculously expensive (for what it is).

EnidButton · 29/08/2019 17:20

given her age

She's only 66!

Though I do agree going to see her would be appreciated. Get her a birthday cake with candles and take your ds to see her. He could make her a card.

Present wise, chocolate?

BlackCatsRule88 · 29/08/2019 17:21

Is she particularly fond of her home or is there a place that means a lot to her? My equally difficult to buy for mum is getting a commissioned painting/drawing of her farm for her upcoming 70th. You can get them from not on the high street for around £50.

Bobbindobbin · 29/08/2019 17:24

A really nice silk scarf. TK Maxx have some

Merino wool hot water bottle?

HisBetterHalf · 29/08/2019 17:26

what about a photo canvas of her and DC?

Beautiful3 · 29/08/2019 17:40

A towelling robe or nice warm blanket for her lap, when watching tv.

Beautiful3 · 29/08/2019 17:41

Wooly socks.

DitheringBlidiot · 29/08/2019 17:46

Bunch of flowers and a book token? Or take her out for a meal?

Sizeofalentil · 29/08/2019 17:47

Check out the Joules outlet on eBay and see if they have any nice dog walking coats, gillets, wellies, socks etc

Lisa angel and Etsy offer a service where you can get a child's drawing or message made in to jewellery

Aquamarine1029 · 29/08/2019 17:51

I would get her a voucher for where she does her food shopping and be done with it. Life is too short to waste time buying something unwanted and unappreciated for someone.

Bluntness100 · 29/08/2019 17:51

I'd give her some vouchers, Amazon or similar. In a card with a box of chocs.

BambooWhoosh · 29/08/2019 17:59

Sponsor a dog? DogsTrust
The dog writes to you 3 times a year. They're very clever. They don't send you a birthday card though (only Valentines & Christmas).

Unshriven · 29/08/2019 18:01

Stationery/writing bits.

Paper, cards, pen & ink cartridges.

Plus a lovely cake or Poirot style box of chocolates.

Or a Poirot box set!

MidweekObscurity · 29/08/2019 18:04

What about a celebrity shout out video message?

www.celebvm.com/search

There's other companies who do it if you can't find her fave. Not sure on price either
