Help I'm totally stumped

I have to get my 66 year old Auntie a birthday present and I'm totally stumped, please help.

She doesn't drink, she doesn't appreciate nice toiletries, if you get her a nice candle she won't burn it, it just sits there wrapped in plastic. She doesn't like flowers. She doesn't like jewellery. She doesn't like new books as why pay for them when you get just get them out of the library.

She's very close to my son so last year I did her a big picture frame of pics of the two of them but I can't do that again

Budget about £50. Help me, I'm stumped!!

Oh she won't shop at John Lewis, it's overpriced 😂

A photo mug that has a picture of DS holding a big “happy Birthday Auntie Dot” poster.

Tea & biscuits hamper from fortnum & Masons or harrods

Silk scarf or snuggly throw

Scruffalicious · 29/08/2019 16:36

GiantKitten You're welcome Wink

SavoyCabbage · 29/08/2019 16:36

This whole thread has made me chuckle but I can’t really say why.

A radio
A rose bush
A teapot

peridito · 29/08/2019 16:37

brilliant suggestionssorry !

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 29/08/2019 16:37

A kitten

MoaningMinnie1 · 29/08/2019 16:38

BuckingFrolics
Amazon prime
Netflix
......
I go along with above suggestions. You don't have to be very technological to use them.

Or else give her £50. Difficult if that is what she gives you though.

M&S vouchers are always welcome and you can buy most things there.

81Byerley · 29/08/2019 16:38

I'd get her an M&S voucher. Then start saving. Here's an idea for her 70th! Some sort of pot/cup/bowl with 70 £1 coins in it!

brownbreadicecream · 29/08/2019 16:40

A lovely cushion or vase?
At least if you get her an Alexa someone (at Amazon) will find out what she does all day Grin

brownbreadicecream · 29/08/2019 16:41

Oh yeah you can get jigsaws made of personal photos, I think they're great! Try to find a picture without loads of one plain colour on though!

catsbeensickagain · 29/08/2019 16:42

Agree M&S voucher is a good idea.
DBS radio?
New purse/wallet?
Bus pass holder - I know but my mum likes hers!
Dog walking treat bag
Thermal gloves
Clip on reading light

beetleaugust · 29/08/2019 16:42

A handbag and a purse from river island.
That's what I got my mum for her birthday this year another impossible person to buy for.

TooTrueToBeGood · 29/08/2019 16:44

Take her out for a meal or some other treat. Given her age, I expect she'll appreciate your company more than anything else.

Worgust · 29/08/2019 16:44

A one touch push button kettle.

Sometimes you just have to go ‘out there’

Thatnovembernight · 29/08/2019 16:46

A hamper full of lovely things that she can actually use (rather than being like the unwrapped candle).

And another vote for binoculars.

ChiaraRimini · 29/08/2019 16:47

Dignitas voucher?

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 29/08/2019 16:47

How about a soft cuddly throw type blanket in a neutral colour? She could cuddle up with it and maybe the dog when winter comes around.

Does she like plants? An orchid plant is always nice. I have several that have been gifts over the years and they still bloom.

GemmeFatale · 29/08/2019 16:50

A nice lamp to read by
Dog kit or something like a hydro session or class for the dog
Fantastic socks to wear while dog walking.

treetrunkthighs · 29/08/2019 16:51

A Love Island water bottle Smile

campion · 29/08/2019 16:52

Oh she won't shop at John Lewis, it's overpriced
She will if she's got a £50 voucher in her hand.
She probably doesn't want 'stuff' so maybe just give her money or take her out.

Not sure what you mean by 'given her age' @TooTrueToBeGood Hmm

Bookworm4 · 29/08/2019 16:55

Nice wellies
Hat & gloves
Coat for the dog
Bag for doggy treats/bags; some very nice ones available
A framed photo of her dog

Actually there are some great suggestions here thank you

A dbs radio is a really good one. I haven't got a cat in hell's chance of getting her to use an ebook or Alexa etc

She will not let us take her out for a bloody meal!!!!
