How do I get a reprint of my deedpoll certificate - lost original and want to apply for Irish passport!

I changed my name back in 1998 and have since lost the original, although I still have copies.

The solicitor I did it through closed back in 2008 and I can't trace them at all.

Having done some research it seems any deed polls made before 2000 are not traceable and so I can't ask for it to be retrieved.

I need the original to apply for an Irish passport.

Am I missing something glaringly obvious? What do I do?

Contact the Solicitor Regulation Authority helpline and ask them to tell you which firm now stores the documents for the solicitor that you used. Solicitors that close do not destroy documents so it will be held somewhere.
