Strictly Fans - Help!

I’ve been lucky enough to get last minute tickets to the launch show tomorrow and I’ve been scouring the various threads on all the forums but one thing I’ve not been able to find out is anything about the dress code. I know it says glamorous which is fine. However I have lots of dresses that are just sequins so you’d think would be perfect. But what I’m worried about is whether being TOO sparkly would prevent us getting decent seats because the sequins might not work with the cameras? I know they only put people with dark clothes behind the judges, but no idea about the front rows?

Are there any mumsnetters that have been to the show that would be able to let me know if this would be a problem? TYIA GlitterballGrin

I would imagine that lots of sequins might be problematic though.

I don't think what you wear will matter nor affect where you sit. It's what time you arrive that affects where you sit!

I went about 10 years ago and we were the last couple in. I did dress up in a lovely silk maxi with a very sparkly necklace. We only just scraped a seat. The queing starts early!

If it is a seated show you will likely only be seen from the chest up. Only the front row is in full show IYSWIM. No point queing in heels either - you can put them on if you want to wear them when you are in!

Yeah I was thinking sticking some flats in a bag I put in the coat room as we’re staying about a mile away and I’m expecting taxis to be a nightmare after the show.
The dresses I have are all full sequins except one which is skirt only so that might be ok.

It’s at Elstree. This is my selection of frocks, and I would love to be able to wear one of them! Might ask the guys that do the ticket validation as well, see what they say.

Haven't been lucky enough to get tickets 4 strictly tho have been to recordings at elstree. There isn't a coat room or anywhere to leave stuff so take a jacket/ bag you can put under your seat. If you are unlucky and it rains take a small umbrella you can put in your bag. Went to recording once and had to leave large brolly in bucket by door. When we came out it was snowing and all the umbrellas had gone! Don't forget you'll need to hand in your phone too.. enjoy!

You are there a long long long long time where something comfortable to stand in . You can queue 1st to get the ticket then to get in . Make sure you go to loo before your number is called for seat otherwise you might lose your seat.

When we was there they picked out people to sit right at the front next to the judges and they were all in really bright colours. They filmed them alot for it takes two and obviously they would be in shot alot when filming the couples getting their scores. Other than that its really pot luck and will depend what number you are in line for getting your ticket.

Thank you so much! Got to the hotel and setting the alarm for early in the morning. Ended up bringing 7 dresses to choose from! And some flat shoes to shove in my bag to walk there and back again!

We’re in the queue!!! We reckon there are about 100 people in the queue already and a lot of them look pretty cold 🥶 Just a 3 hour wait now.....

Tickets validated! 137 & 138 so not bad really, the time has flown. Just time to have a chill and get ready before back at the studio at 2pm! Soooo excited!!!

We got back about half 10 in the end which wasn’t too bad. Totally exhausted but so happy after an amazing night!

I went with the green and blue sequins in the end but annoyingly, in our so called wisdom of not taking our phones so we didn’t have to queue up for them at the end (which I’m very glad of seeing the queue as we came out!), we ended up with no photos at all! And they didn’t have a photo booth either ☹️ At least we have the memories though.

If you're a glamour puss, don't go for a seat in shot of Tess's spot ... DB is a cameraman on strictly and he's seen her have one lady moved, for daring to be gorgeous near her 🤣
