Most boring thread ever-why do we get through so much bog roll?

We went on holiday for a week. I took two loo rolls and there were two provided in the cottage. By the end of the week we had run out. Surely 4 in a week is totally ridiculous? What happens to it? What are my family doing with it?! For full disclosure I do buy cheap paper, but I would be bankrupt within a month getting through that much Andrex. I have two dcs of 6 and 10, who both have a poo once a day. I am constipated as hell at 36weeks pregnant and dh is a regular once a day man. Do I need to start rationing it?!

DD can use a whole roll in a day. It's her superpower Grin

GibbonLover · 29/08/2019 14:04

Squash the roll so it becomes oval shaped rather than round. It helps to stop you tearing too much off. Also, do you have a Home Bargain or a Savers nearby? Try the Nicky paper, it's really cheap and great quality. £2.29 for 9 rolls. Ocado charge £3.99 for the very same pack.

OneForTheRoadThen · 29/08/2019 16:05

6 for a poo?! You sound like a war baby OP. Maybe I am just profligate 😂

Oh no I'm a stinge! Grin my poor family, I'll stop rationing it then

57 sheets a day seems ridiculous!

I have no idea what DH is doing with the toilet roll but he gets through about one a day.

How can we stop this?! Rationing

missbattenburg · 29/08/2019 16:28

Look people. I commented on this thread in good faith with rock solid facts. I got them straight out of the toilet paper encyclopedia backed up by toiletpaperhistory.net which I'm sure you'll all agree are reliable sources.

I cannot help it if you all are toilet paper weirdos. The facts are the facts.

57 sheets on average.

You cannot argue with science.

Grin Grin Grin

missbattenburg · 29/08/2019 16:33

What'll really blow your minds is that if 57 sheets is the average and some of you use much less then...

some people must be using much MORE!! Shock

chemenger · 29/08/2019 16:34

DD had a birthday bbq, in 4 hours 12 22-year olds used two full toilet rolls and blocked the drains.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 29/08/2019 16:37

I am astonished. And clearly mean with it too! The average toilet trip uses 8.6 sheets apparently...

OP posts:
EllebellyBeeblebrox · 29/08/2019 19:02

I will start squashing it into an oval though that is an excellent suggestion

cheeseandcrackers · 29/08/2019 19:32

Wow, we obviously use well below average. I had a box of 36 rolls delivered from Who gives a crap in February. We have at least a 1/3 left and there are four of us

missbattenburg · 29/08/2019 21:19

Anyone else straight off to google 'who gives a crap'?

rededucator · 29/08/2019 22:03

One roll a week between 4 of you? Wow, you must shit at work a lot.

sonjadog · 29/08/2019 22:11

Keep the toilet roll on you and make them ask for it every time they want to go. Then hand over four squares only.

labazsisgoingmad · 30/08/2019 09:24

go back to using squares of newspaper

ElinoristhenewEnid · 04/09/2019 22:53

I buy Regina chamomile toilet rolls - really soft and thick. 2 for a wee and 3 for a poo is ample. I live on my own and 1 roll can last me nearly a fortnight if I don't have any visitors - had 5 female visitors the other week and half a toilet roll went in an afternoon!

These toilet rolls are often on special offer at Wilkos so I then stock up!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 04/09/2019 23:20

You sound like my DH op.
Always banging on about the bog roll 🙄
Would you rather we had skid marks?!?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 04/09/2019 23:21

6 SHEETS for a POO????

Thesuzle · 04/09/2019 23:25

Try the :”squash the roll a bit” method,, if the roll spins off the holder too quick, people use it, no one spends the time winding it back on, do they ?

Cakeandmarshmallows · 04/09/2019 23:29

My husband is away currently and I'm getting through soooo much less toilet roll! I worry he eats it as well!!

Nonotmenori · 04/09/2019 23:30

I use a roll a day on just me! I have tried to cut down, but I just can't.

Clementara21 · 04/09/2019 23:32

We use about one roll per day for our family of four. I buy cheapish stuff (but not the really cheap, tiny rolls) and it's fine. Currently have 72 rolls (eight 9-packs) stashed in the garage in case of a no deal Brexit!

Happymum12345 · 04/09/2019 23:38

Family of 5. I can’t believe you only use 4 rolls a week! We get through about 1/2 rolls a day-good quality stuff too. We were told to ration loo roll at primary school & I took it so seriously-scarred me for life!

which1 · 04/09/2019 23:48

I use loads. Don't want it getting on my hands...

BeepBeeeep · 05/09/2019 03:31

You need Izal medicated loo roll.
Now that was an arse wipe to be reckoned with.
One box of 50 leaves would last a family of four a lifetime.
Mainly due to it smearing shite everywhere while scratching your arse to ribbons.
