Champagne in hold baggage?

Does anyone know if a bottle of champagne is likely to survive a one hour flight in checked baggage? It'll be in a wooden box and wrapped in plastic in case of problems, but what are the chances of it going bang?

I cart bottles of wine all the time in hold luggage. Plus champagne will be in a stronger bottle because of yeast

Yes, absolutely fine - put it in the centre of your case to be on the safe side. I’ve done it dozens of times - wine travels well.

Thanks! I've got a celebration coming up the day after I travel, and have been hanging on to 2 bottles of vintage champers for years now. I just don't want to arrive with booze soaked clothes or - worse - having to explain why my suitcase has exploded :)
