Putting an offer - how long?

Bit of a stupid question. Just wondering how long it took you to put in an offer after you’d seen a property?

We’ve just been for a second view - DH is tied up with works things but I’d like to do it now (I’m fast acting!). Worried there might be other offers, I suppose. How long is reasonable to decide/ discuss/ wait?

Most people fall in love with houses so offers are quite quick. However, some people have reasons to be more careful - maybe the place is a bit higher than budget, or they havent sold their own, or they just cant decide what to offer. These people run a risk of losing it to someone else of course.

When we bought over 25 years ago if someone had come along a few days later with a higher offer, the EA would have forwarded it anyway and started a price war, but I dont know if the market is still like that now.

I missed out on one house because I was too slow? So the next I put an offer in the day I looked around.
