Second pregnancy massive

With DD I had quite a small bump until I was about 28 weeks. DD was born 6lb
Now pregnant with DC2 and I'm already massive at 24 weeks. I am already feeling uncomfortable doing things like getting up/putting shoes on etc. I'm worried I am too big. I know you do normally get bigger with each pregnancy. Just wondered if anyone felt the same?
I think part of my worry is with DD I had bad morning sickness. When it went I literally craved healthy food. However this time my cravings have basically been sweet and unhealthy foods. I'm angry at myself because I have given in way too often. I didn't eat this bad before the baby so already feel I'm letting DC2 down. Also worried it's a sign of diabetes you get when pregnant. Was this a sign for anyone else? I don't see a midwife for another 4 weeks. Feel I don't really have anyone to speak to about it.

I hardly showed at 9 months with DC1.

I’m now massive with DC2 and have been showing a big bump since 5 months.

But everything seems fine. I think it’s the muscles they have less resistance and maybe the way the organs get displaced and amount of water.

Big bump is a big room for baby to swim.

If you are worried, you can go to maternity assessment unit and get urine sample if you suspect diabetes.

Also cravings and nausea completely different in my two pregnancies. One was all about junk and one was all healthy. One I could hardly eat and so had sugar rushes out of starvation and one I was slightly more normal.

I think you sound worried though so best to get reassured at maternity assessment unit as there would be lovely midwives to reassure you

It’s totally totally normal.

I got massive very quickly with my second pregnancy - to put it in context, first was twins and second was not! Everything is a lot more stretched out already, so unless you have other symptoms of gestational diabetes (which makes the baby grow much quicker I believe) then I don’t think you need to worry.

Thank you both it's reassuring to hear it's normal. Will look at contacting my maternity unit if I carry on worrying. Just feel I have hardly seen anyone with this pregnancy compared to the first.

I had a tiny bump first time. Literally didn’t show until at least 22 weeks. I didn’t even tell work until 18 weeks and no one had a clue. Second time around I was visibly pregnant by 8 weeks and felt like I had a huge bump. It evened out from about 30 weeks or so. Ds2 was just over 1lb bigger ds1 (but much easier birth!)

I feel the same and am relieved that it is normal. I'm 17 weeks and have a sizeable bump. And all I've heard is how big I am and God help me at 9 months. And I've actually lost 10kg!

In the end I had a slightly bigger bump with baby 2 than baby 1. However I was much bigger much earlier through the whole pregnancy... I went for my 12 week scan unable to get into normal trousers. At 22 weeks looked 30 and from 34 weeks on people were saying 'not long to go now love'...a reply of '6 weeks or so' raised eyebrows. Asking if it was twins got very irritating....

Baby was big, and bigger than first, but I definately slowed down at end.
Good luck!

I could have written this post myself, 23 weeks with second, I have had a bump since around 11 weeks, 1st pregnancy I didn't show till gone 20 weeks. I have had many comments on 'oh you've quite a big belly haven't you? Or wow that is a proper mum tum already 🙄 are you worried about how big you already are?' I am trying hard to enjoy my pregnancy as I can and embrace the bump life! I was just saying today that I think my craving could be double cheeseburgers, all I can think about it bad food, a big difference from my first again!
