RiddleyW · 28/08/2019 13:35

I have a nearly 5 year old.

We do dinner at about 5.45, bath at 6.45, out at 7 then teeth, pyjamas and a story - lights out about 7.15 usually.

HysteryMystery · 28/08/2019 14:29

Dinner 6-630 (depends on activities)
Aim for bathroom at 7. Bath, teeth etc.
730 bed + 1 parent with story ( we alternate DC each night)
Chat, story for ~15 mins
Lights out, music on and wait (I usually read on phone) until they sleep, pretty much always by 8pm.

Wake around 630.

Windydaysuponus · 28/08/2019 14:33

Ds is 5 next month... Tea 530 ish. Pj's about 7 . He has always loved his bed tbh!! Youngest dc incase it's relevant!!
New thing I would like to share is the spin on storytime. Ds closes his eyes while I choose a book. I read a few words and he guesses which story! Never would have expected the reception this gets!!
Apparently dh isn't as good so bedtime usually my job!

RiddleyW · 28/08/2019 14:40

Oh yeah I should’ve said - awake at 6 usually. Anything up to 7 if he’s very tired

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/08/2019 14:43

6 year old.

Tea 5pm, bath 6.30pm. In bed for 7pm, teeth brushed and story. Asleep for 7.30pm.

RedTrek · 28/08/2019 14:54

I have a 4 year old.

Dinner at 6.

Sometimes bath or shower straight after dinner, but not every day. Maybe every third day on average. She'll have a long bath/shower with time to play and then straight into pyjamas, play until 7.40 ish.

Otherwise, play until 7.30, then get into pyjamas.

7.40, last wee and brush teeth. Up into bed for a story. Goodnight kiss and we leave her with an audiobook on at 8. She's usually asleep by 9 at the latest.

Gets up around 8.

EmmiJay · 28/08/2019 15:08

5yr old dd. She has dinner between 4:30pm - 5:30pm. Plays with her tablet or toys until wash time at 7pm. Then its bed at 7:30pm. She sleeps right through until 7am.

ArfArfBarf · 28/08/2019 15:16

Ds (5 and middle dc of three). Dinner around 6-6.30, upstairs at 6.45 for bath. PJs on and plays quietly in room whilst I put younger dc to bed. Then he reads to me for 15mins and I read to him. Usually all done lights off by 7.30. He desperately tries to drag out the final goodnights but I’m pretty wise to his tricks now!

Smellybluecheese · 28/08/2019 15:24

4 year old . Bath every other day at 6 ish then she watches her tablet for a bit . We go up about 6.50 and read 3 stories . Then brush teeth and in bed . I still sit next to her as she goes to sleep which I need to change but she is usually asleep by half 7.

Deelish75 · 28/08/2019 15:41

DD is 4.5.
5pm - dinner
5.30 - tidy up and a bit of tv
6.15 - bath and pyjamas on
6.45 - downstairs to watch bedtime story and a cup of milk
7.00 - teeth and bedtime story
7.15-20 lights out.

She usually wakes the next morning between 6.30-7

graziemille567 · 28/08/2019 15:41

Tea around 5/ 5:30
Bath/teeth/ wrestling with DH at 6
Story around 6:30 then either lights off if he wants to go straight to sleep or playing/looking at books in his bed for 20 minutes.
Usually fast asleep by 7.

He goes to school earlier than in the UK (school starts at 7:40!) so he needs to be in bed fairly early so he can get up at 6ish the next morning to get ready for school.

He's nearly 5.

Abouttime1978 · 28/08/2019 15:45

I have a 7, 5 and 2 year old.

Dinner depends on how hungry they are after school. I have taken to early tea at 4:30pm and doing cereal or toast for supper later on. Otherwise they fill up on snacks and don't eat dinner.

Two year old still naps, so everyone goes upstairs at 7:30 for teeth and toilet (bath done earlier if it's bath night).

Then 2 year old into bed with a quick story, followed by story and bed for the 5 year old and then same for the 7 year old.

7 year old can read until 8:30 and then sleep.

They all get up about 6:30 x

inwood · 28/08/2019 16:24

It's all gone tits up in the holidays... 7 yo dts are going up at 9, fall asleep within 5 minutes. We'll be back on 1930 bed lights out at 2000 when back to school

StarlingsInSummer · 28/08/2019 16:30

I have a nearly 5 year old. Dinner at 5ish during the week. Cup of milk at 6.30, in the bath by 6.45, in bed having a story by 7. Usually we're downstairs by 7.15ish though often one of us has to go up at least once to get him a drink of water/scare away monsters/say "Will you go to SLEEP!"

We were thinking about moving bedtime back by half an hour but he's starting school soon and I imagine he'll be shattered to start with at least!

Routine is the same at weekends, just everything is a little later.

Bugbeau · 28/08/2019 16:51

3 year old and 7 year old. They generally finish dinner around 6-6.15, watch one episode of something on Netflix. Then up for a bath around 6.30. After bath & teeth 3 year old has story and song in bed while 7 year old plays in his room. Then I read a chapter of a book to 7 year old in my bed, he then goes to bed and reads til 7.30 when I turn the lights off. Both usually go straight to sleep and wake around 6.30.

foxyfemke · 28/08/2019 16:58

4 YO (only child, for reference)

5.30pm-ish dinner, any later he's too tired. After the summer holiday ends this time may change on days I have work placement and he has after school care.
6.30pm: upstairs for shower (weekdays) or bath (weekends), story, teeth and usually in bed by 7.15 and on the whole asleep in minutes.

He's up for the day at 6.30 weekdays (he is woken up by one of us having a shower) or 7am-ish on weekends.

GrumpySausage · 28/08/2019 16:58

I have a 4 year old starting school next week. We do dinner at 6, shower (some nights) at 6.45 and then bed by 7. Usually asleep by 7.30. Wakes between 6.30-7.30 normally.

Happyspud · 28/08/2019 19:16

I’ve an (almost) 4 yr old, 5 yr old and 6 yr old. At 7 the almost 4 yr old is teeth, toilet and bed with my phone. Then I get 5 yr old into ready with teeth and toilet and into bed and at 7.15 she gets my phone off the 4 yr old who then is tucked in and (usually) goes to sleep. Then I take it off her at 7.30 and she goes to sleep. At 7.30 I get the 6 yr old up to bed so teeth and toilet. Then he plays in his room with Lego or the iPad or reading till 8 when he’s told to get into bed and go asleep. I’ve a 1.5 yr old too who happily goes into his cot at 6.45 and never a peep out of him.

Mostly works great BUT you have to be very very strict. They do get cuddle time each and sometimes read to if there’s time between kids.

PrincessLouis · 28/08/2019 19:26

Dinner 6pm
Bath 6:30
Brush teeth
Story (DC share)
Sit with each DC quietly in bed for five mins
All over 7:30 or a bit later if I stay for extra snuggles

Up 6:15 school days / 7am weekends - with Gro Clocks

LBOCS2 · 28/08/2019 19:27

I have a 6yo. At 8pm we chase her upstairs to do teeth and wee. Pyjamas, into bed, chatting or storytime and then she has about 20 minutes of chill out time with either her kindle or Alexa reading her an audiobook. Lights our by 8.30.

She naturally wakes at between 7.30-8.

Sleepinglemon · 28/08/2019 19:27

5 year old.
Tea at 6pm, play after tea. Up to bed usually about 7-7.15: PJs, teeth, sometimes yoga cards or shadow puppets if we're feeling adventurous then story. Tuck him in, night light on, Gro Clock set, kisses and cuddles.

We do bath/shower in the morning when we have more time.

LBOCS2 · 28/08/2019 19:33

Oh yeah, dinner is at between 6.30-7, as we eat as a family once DH is home from work. It's a balancing trick... if we eat too early then she complains that she's getting hungry before bed as a procrastination technique but I like to give her a chance for dinner to settle! Bath in between dinner and bedtime except on Sunday when both DC have a long 'play bath' in the early evening. We don't do baths every day though.

soundsystem · 28/08/2019 19:36

Almost 5-year-old.

Dinner at 5.30/6pm, then teeth/washed into PJs

Then some quiet playing with younger sibling (2.5) while I get organised.

6.30pm Into bed (again with younger sibling) for stories and snuggles

7pm into her own bed and either reads to herself or listens to an audiobook

7.30 lights out
