Ballet/barre clothes

Have tried S&B and am now posting here for traffic.

I want some new threads for my ballet fit classes (and yoga) and am looking for things in cotton or bamboo-type fabrics, as opposed to technical/sports fabrics. Would like a range of colours, bright or muted, I'm not that fussy! Budget is sensible high street rather than your Asquith £50-for-a-vest bracket. TIA!

bambooclothing.com have a range of sportswear, and some items are reduced right now x

Thank you! I've got a couple of things from them, but they're not quite my taste generally.

I just wear workout leggings and vests for my yoga and barre.

I used to as well, but would like (as I said) to wear more non-technical, softer, more natural fabrics.

Have you tried some of the dance wear stockists? I can't think of many names offhand, but brands like Bloch and Capezio are well known. Or Pineapple.

tiredandgrumpy, I looked at Bloch but hadn't thought of the others; that's a good shout.

Belgravian, thank you. Some lovely stuff but it's not cheap, is it? Shock

Have you started your classes yet? Only some will want you to wear ballet tights so they can see your muscles/correct your technique.

DarlingNikita · 28/08/2019 15:17

Yes, been going for a while and, as per my OP, they're ballet fit classes and yoga, not 'serious' ballet, so they're not really arsed about what people wear beyond comfort and safety.

Ah fair enough, I did adult ballet rather than ballet fit and they were strict on tights!

DarlingNikita · 28/08/2019 15:25

God, I've dodged a bullet Grin I thought about adult ballet but it sounds terrifying and they'd think I was an appalling uncoordinated heffalump, which I am

If you want a good dance site try DanceDirect. They carry a number of brands - WearMoi, Plume, Bloch, Capezio at good prices. But proper dance wear tends to be in Lycra or cotton-Lycra because we like to be able to see the line of the body while we’re doing the technical work of ballet, and that’s not really a concern in the kinds of classes you’re doing. But you might find cotton-Lycra jazz pants are what you’re looking for, or some of the warm ups.

DarlingNikita · 29/08/2019 11:23

Thanks Mouthy, I'll take a look. I see what you mean about fabrics but yes, warm-up clothes might fit the bill for me.
