I’m hoping to open a patisserie. There are none around, plenty of bakery’s selling sausage rolls and marshmallow cones. But, I’d like to ope something a bit more luxury, somewhere you’d buy treats and presents. Do you like these ideas, or suggest any others,
As well as a patisserie counter
Being able to s3nd cake, in way you could send flowers,
Having a patisserie pick and mix box
Order ahead for office parties etc,
Perch to eat your cake in shop.
I’d also like to have high quality local items, the sort that if you may put in gift hampers?
I also do celebration cakes

What would you like to see in shop like that?

Our local bakery (lovely but not posh in a way I think you’re going for) sells various vienoisserie (pastries, can’t spell!) buns and things around breakfast on the weekend and does a roaring trade. Different buns each week, plus standards like croissant, almond croissant, pain au choc etc.

They also stock local honey, jams, preserves, kombucha and that type of thing.

It’s also a cookery school, which does very well. If you look up Loaf Online you should find more info. It’s brilliant.

High end coffees and teas to buy. Local producers of jams, chutneys etc. Maybe even a little deli section with olives and cheeses if room.

Gift wrapped selection boxes of mixed or pick your own cakes of differing sizes , + REALLY NICE quality cards to match (ideally supporting a local artist) - we used to have a local baker/confectioner/tea room also did gifts and lovely cards, always went there for cards/wrapping/boxes/gift bags.
Local or ideally your own jam/chutney/honey/lemon curd
Hamper service - so people can pre-order a nice hamper, cakes & selection of sandwiches etc, or perhaps an afternoon tea hamper of scones, jams, and clotted cream etc. Can see this could be popular for eg Ascot, Henley or similar - depends where you are really!
I'd also do takeaway coffee to get the punters in (how many times do I accidentally get a cake too because they look so nice!) and for your perching customers to enjoy with their cake, but do not offer WiFi or they'll hang about all day.
I hope you're opening near me!
