Relaxing South coast holiday recommendations?

I've been unwell recently and have to be off work for an extended period of time. This means I can go away during term time (I work in a school) for the first time in 15 years!

Money isn't much of an issue, and it will likely be me alone without my partner. I'm mostly looking at the southern coastline. I'm in Wiltshire and happy to drive. I'm not particularly sociable, so I'd prefer a private apartment/cottage, or a large hotel. I like to walk and love being near a beach.

Does anyone have any favoured towns/ areas, or accommodation recommendations? Thank you!

Most of the south coast is pretty crowded all year round east of Southampton unless you head for somewhere like the quieter bits of the Isle of Wight?

If North Devon or North Cornwall or Somerset would work for you there are some lovely locations around that part of the world including some very nice National Trust accommodation on some of the estates - pretty much guaranteed peace and quiet once everyone goes home at the end of the day! Heddon Valley, for instance, might suit you though the beach is a bit rocky.

Or somewhere like Lynton or Lynmouth on Exmoor?

I was reading in Timeout about Broadstairs. Now I haven't been but was intrigued. They mentioned this hotel.

Broadstairs is lovely . I think you can do a tour of Bleak House too, where Dicken's once lived (or it was his holiday home)

Not many amusement arcades (I think there is perhaps one on a slip road lane to the beach, but it was ages ago).
Sandy beach with cliffs and rock pools .
I always favoured Broadstairs over the busier Margate and Ramsgate , though Margate is the busiest as it has Dreamland of course.

That's good to know because the article made me think about going one day! I really haven't done much of Britain yet!

Hope you do and hope you enjoy @Deathraystare

An even quieter spot, and very lovely, is Botany Bay and Joss Bay . Drive straight through Broadstairs and keep on the main road . You will note a lighthouse on the right and a car park opposite . Joss Bay has rock pools, a beach and no amusement arcades . Its lovely. Botany Bay has a large chalk arch that looks like you are in the Med
