School shoes!

I'm as organised as ever.... can you lovely MNers reccomend somewhere to get sturdy school shoes for a 5 year old boy, we can't really stretch to Clark's this year but something around the £25 mark is doable. No Clarks outlet nearby before someone suggests that! Smile

ASDA School shoes get great reviews. I bought mine black trainers this year (quite smart) from a local discount sports shop.

I got DS's from M&S this year, they were £28, they look good and have good reviews but not tested yet...

If you have a Costco near and you know someone with a membership it’s worth having a look. My local one is currently doing lots of kids school shoes and they look quite robust, sensible ones.

Thanks all! I'm going today, wish me luck battling the crowds! Note to self, be more organised next year...

Highly recommend Threads and I remember seeing a discount in FB last year, so there may be one this year.

BonnesVacances · 28/08/2019 09:11

Sorry, it's Treads! BlushThey have 10% off at the moment and their cheapest pair is £35. So slightly more than you wanted to spend, but they have a 12-month guarantee, so they'll last you a minimum of a year.

theneverendinglaundry · 28/08/2019 09:17

M&S do a great mid range shoe. I've bought from all the supermarkets and they only ever last a term with my kids. M&S are much better quality.

Have you tried Deichmann? They do the shoes with the rubber fronts similar to Clarks. I only buy school shoes with that big rubber part on the front as my boys destroy any other type x

LongtimeLurker29 · 28/08/2019 09:21

Deichmann are also buy one pair and get another pair half price

Birdie379 · 28/08/2019 09:33

Next have got a fantastic range this year that do width fittings.

whattodowith · 28/08/2019 10:49

I got my DS’s from next this year, they were £26.

Mimosa1 · 28/08/2019 14:23

Also, Clark's outlet have a website. I ordered from there this year and although you have to pay for postage, it still works out quite a bit cheaper than Clarks's in store range.

DD2 is really hard on shoes (she walks strangely meaning she tends to rip straps off things like mary janes in weeks) but she had a pair of ones that looked very much like DMs from Sainsburys last year which lasted really well.

DeanImpala67 · 28/08/2019 15:41

Definitely M&S, the shoes are super comfy (according to DS) and last well. Ours were outgrown before they wore out, and another bonus as reasonably priced too. I have actually picked up some Aldi ones this year to try but they go so quickly that there won't be stock now.
