Child benefit paperwork getting lost despite being sent recorded delivery?

Is this normal?

I'm just trying to figure out if it's normal for child benefit paperwork to get lost if it was sent recorded delivery? We are being told to resend it.

Can you check the tracking and see who signed for it?

PawPatrolled · 27/08/2019 14:22

They signed for it but only put down "child benefit".

Sounds like it was lost after being recieved by the CB office?

I think so, and I've never claimed before so I was just wondering if that's common.

All the mail goes to a sorting centre, so it's inevitable that (too many) things get lost. The signature will be for a sackload of mail, so it's most likely that the letter did reach that point but not definite, it could have been scanned into the sack but put into another one.

Resend it but just get proof of postage (free), there's no point in paying extra.

Don't use recorded delivery! That means mail is separated out and there is more likelihood of it being lost. Proof of posting should be sufficient.

Thanks everyone, I won't send it recorded delivery this time.

Mines gone missing 3 times , I’ve just done it online. Not sure if you can do that for new claims though
