Hi , Mums health has taken a dramatic down turn over the last few months, Practically blind - Very hard of hearing and until very recently ADAMANT that she does not need help from anyone !!!! ( WW 11world war survivor mentality - won't accept help ) Anyway a recent fall has finally convinced her that she does need someone to look in on her , someone better qualified than myself "( working 48 hrs a week full time) - But I honestly haven't got a clue where to start looking for help , Is it the social services ? - Through her doctor ? - The council ? - I know all areas of the UK have different rules - and that everyones circumstances are different, but honestly ...ANY advice , any websites etc - Greatly appreciated.

Your local council should be able to give you some advice and work out if your mum is eligible for any funding towards her care. If she is then the council normally have a list of approved care agencies for you to choose from. Someone from the agency will come out and do an assessment and agree a care plan. If your Mum has savings then she may not be entitled to funding so she'd have to source and fund care herself. Have a look at local care providers on the CQC website to check their reports.
