Feather cushion smells like a farmyard

I was given a very nice feather cushion for my birthday back in June, which I've just unpacked now (we've been having building work done and I wanted to protect it from dust).

It stinks!!! To the extent that I accused my DS of doing a really rancid trump ☹️

Is there any solution? Does it just need airing or do I need to wash it? If the latter, what's the best way to go about it?

I would air it to start with.

It needs airing out, it can take a few days for the smell to dissipate ime. If it still smells after that then maybe try washing, but be warned they smell even worse while drying!

Thanks both - I'll get it aired outside!

It needs airing - I bought a couple of huge ones from the White Company a few years ago and was horrified at first but it soon goes
