Anyone use reusable sanitary towels?

Just looking for recommendations for ones that actually stay put and don’t go on an expedition to Bum Crack Land after an hour of wearing?

Don’t need to be massively absorbent - I have PCOS and rarely have ‘proper’ periods.

I use Earthwise, i find them good.

I'm pretty sure the exploration is caused by the type of underwear you're wearing rather than the pads, at least it was in my case.

My dd does. She's just started her periods and disposables are her last resort. I'm too old and don't have periods anymore.
She started with a Precious Stars budget set but has loads of different ones, some I have made for her. She also uses Modibodis for school (usually with a pad as well).
Washing is no big deal for her - mainly because I do it for nowGrin (she's just getting used to having periods so it's worth tbe hassle in my view).
She slings a used one in a wet bag and then, at the end of the cycle, I rinse them all out in cold water, apply an Ecover stain stick, wash as normal adding a scoop of Oxyclean and air dry them. Not a single stain has survived this and she's had some heavy periods.

I've looked into them but I'm a bit concerned that a lot of them seem to be made of microfibre minky type fabric which are known to leave micro plastic particles in the water when they are washed so I'm now a bit concerned about that from an environmental point of view. Anyone looked into this more and has advice? I'm sure they're probably still better than disposable products but unsure.

bellinisurge · 27/08/2019 09:40

Minky is just another option. Cotton, bamboo velour, loads of other options.

Soubriquet · 27/08/2019 09:40

Yep I do

I use bamboo barn and I really like them.

Haven’t had to buy any pads for nearly 2 years now

Honouryourflow are the best imo.

AdalindMeisner · 27/08/2019 09:47

I tried them but found they rubbed the top of inner thigh when I walked. I am on the larger side and they bunch far more than disposables do which left me really sore.

hooraysuperworm · 27/08/2019 18:18

Thanks all.

I wear pretty standard M&S pants - literally big standard multipacks of 5 - so maybe it’s more the shape of my bottom? Even at a size 8 I still always had thunder thighs that rub, probably due to a child/teenager hood spent riding horses.

Minivivi here plus some cheap £1 pantiliners from Aliexpress do me fine.
Get the darker colours and you wont have to worry about stains.
I'm somewhat large of thigh myself and I find I dont have problems with chafing/moving as long as my pants are reasonably snug fitting.

GummyGoddess · 27/08/2019 22:53

How do the current ones fasten? I also got cheapo ones from aliexpress and they just fasten with one popper.

AdalindMeisner · 27/08/2019 23:58

Maybe I should try again with different knickers and see if the chafing/rubbing stops.

@gummygoddess The ones I have are all fastened with a single popper. I got mine from earthwise if I remember rightly (2/3 years since I bought them).
