UK holiday - where to next?

Back from Cornwall and I've got the post-holiday blues.

So to cheer myself up, I thought I'd investigate possibilities for next year.

Any amazing places you'd recommend for a family of 4? DCs aren't little (they will both be teenagers next year Shock) and one small dog (well behaved). Self catering rather than hotel or B&B.

We like walks, sea, nice pubs, cycling, lovely views, places to visit that are dog friendly, castles & history (god, I've made myself sound about 104 but I'm middle aged now and really don't care Grin)...

Been to Cornwall (lots), Yorkshire Dales, Northumbria, Isle of Skye, and Dorset. Very happy to return or to find a new favourite....

Any gems you'd recommend?

North Wales - Snowdonia / Anglesey?
Suffolk - Southwold / Aldeburgh areas?

Go to Gower. You won't regret it.

mnahmnah · 26/08/2019 23:18

Parttimewasteoftime · 26/08/2019 23:19

Cornwall is the best..... But Isle of Wight Osborne is beautiful needles and pier?

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 26/08/2019 23:20

Lake District (west for coast) - will tick all your boxes. Been a fair few times and I still haven't done or seen everything I'd like to!

CherryPavlova · 26/08/2019 23:22

Has to be Isle of Wight. Not grand, not terribly ‘in’ with north London set but fantastic walking, beaches and food. Here at the moment and just been out for a lovely meal with doggo. He loves the coastal path runs, the dog friendly pubs and cafes and swimming in the sea.
Some quite poor areas, some areas that appeal to scooter riding St George flag wavers but head across the island to Cowes, Ventnor or West Wight and you leave that all behind.

Cabezona · 26/08/2019 23:23

Devon. We've just come back. There's a quaint beach that's almost empty and with the weather how it's been, it's almost like being somewhere else entirely

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 26/08/2019 23:24

Tbf Scotland/borders has loads of castles and everything else on your list, stunning scenery. But I'm biased as it's my total dream to move to Scotland and become a Crofter despite bugger-all experience Grin

theluckiest · 26/08/2019 23:26

@Cabezona, ooh dare I ask where? Sounds wonderful. Obviously, don't tell everyone...Wink

These all sound perfect. I'm Googling like a madwoman...

Last year I went to Tenby in Pembrokeshire Wales and it was beautiful, lovely beaches, clean water. We stayed in a lovely house 5 minutes walk from the beach.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/08/2019 23:29

The Cairngorms doesn’t have sea but Loch Muick has some beachy bits. And it’s stunning
And everyone from there is absolutely wonderful Grin

Peanutbuttericecream · 26/08/2019 23:31
